Helios 300 PH317-53-72P5 rtx 2060 fan stopping

I bought a Helios 300 PH317-53-72P5, the first one I received had a battery problem, so I replaced it with a new one thanks to the warranty.
But I noticed that both pcs had the same problem: the fans never stop even when the pcs were in idle, the pcs had a temperature around 37 degree celcius on idle
I don't know if it's a problem or acer has decided that the fans never stop.
How to stop the fans? with predator sense it is impossible to stop them
When I work on Office or internet searches I like to stop the fans I use a cooler pad

Hello. I have the same question about that. Even if the laptop is fully cooled down (plugged or unplugged) the fans are still on at around 2500rpm and you can hear them. I would like to have them lower or even off when in "desktop idle"

I have the same problem on PH315-52, gpu fan can’t go lower than 2200 rpm no matter what temperature is it. Cpu fan can be 1680 but very rarely and most time it is around 2000-2200. PS software doesn't allow to change this behavior and we need to ask Acer to add this possibility.
There is another way - just remove PS and use other app instead but in this case it will be missed turbo functionality and probably rgb settings and something else2 -
They could make it specially in favor of triton 500 which can stop all fans to zero rpm
Similarly why they suggest only short battery with unused 2.5” slot1 -
Could someone tell to acer to make update for bios or predatorsense to allow to stop the fans?2
-
So I installed latest Bios 1.05 on my PH315-52
I installed latest Predator Sense 3.00.3126
On idle CPU is 42C, GPU shows --C (with the mark that discrete GPU is idle), System is 36C
So temperatures are very acceptable but CPU fan does 2040 rpm and GPU 2460 rpm and it can’t go lower or stop due to software limitation3 -
this fan control need another update which is not available now3

belik said:@xapim Hi, how do you think, can we ask Acer engineers to allow to stop fans on latest Helios?

I think stopping would be a bit much, but lower than 2600rpm or something. I am sitting in front of my laptop and the fans are still very loud - but all I am doing is just surfing the internet. System temp is at 37° so very cool actually.

This is getting annoying. Even completely cooled down both fans are at 2500rpm and really audible. This has to be a big of some kind2

Strako mine stays at 2300/2400 and i barely notice any noise i can only notice noise after 3500/4000

The main problem is with gpu fan. Cpu fan can work at 1700-2000 and it’s acceptable. But gpu is always 2200-2500 and I don’t know why, discrete gpu is idle and system temp below 40C.
When sitting at the laptop, I can clearly hear noise from the right side of vent (where gpu) and barely can hear from the left (where cpu).
We really need quick update from Acer engineers.
If not, there is still an option to swap pwm signal cable between cpu and gpu to see how they send control signal. Also we can split pwm signal from cpu to gpu so they both are controlled by one. Well this is workaround and not best solution but still can work well.1 -
Is like a quick update as well as I really like this laptop despite the fan issue. I could still give it back.0

Yes I understand your concerns and you have full right to give it back, fan noise is definitely drawback(no matter wether it’s miscalculation in their design or made specially for marketing purposes). Fan itself can work at very low, I even saw cpu fan at 960-1500 rpm right after turning PC on. Perhaps, gpu fan just can't work so low (because cpu is normal delta fan and gpu is aeroblade one). Again, then we can replace this gpu with normal delta fan.
Speaking of update, it can be very probably that they will never fix it at all so this is what everyone needs to decide.1 -
In the triton 500 thinner laptop gaming the fans can be at 0 rpm. Why is it impossible with the helios 300?
please make update predator sense or bios for have 0 rpm on idle2 -

please make update predator sense or bios for have 0 rpm on idleThe GPU fans? Then this seems to be a bug or hardware limitation. If the thinner laptop can go 0rpm then the Helios should be able to as well. Can we forward this to acer themselves somehow?0 -
In youtube video of the triton 500 the 3 fans of the triton 500 can be at 0rpm
hope an admistrator of this web site see the request0 -

I think this is just a display error as the fans then shortly after display at their corresponding speeds. It was set to MAX as well.0

I think they were stopped then he pressed max button and they spinned up0
