Quick. Open Control Panel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in the left pane. Click 'system restore' button' Click 'next'. Select a restore point with a date/time stamp that looks like the guilty update. Jack E/NJ

I talked with a Microsoft support agent again and gave them all the info that was what I saw was probably the issue and they had me do a few things in some settings and restart, so far so good, been playing dayz for a long period of time now with no issue

I’m thinking I will need to do a full on clean installation of windows 10 to see if that gets rid of any sort of software issue I may be having even though it gets rid of Acers stuff that come with the windows 10 on these laptops.

You will probably need a fresh factory reset but if you are planning to install it from a usb bare in mind you will format and loose the acer recovery partition and you cannot restore to acer factory again if you do so and some of the acer software (PS for ex) might not even work properly because the factory windows was customized/tweaked to work properly with all acer software/drivers for your model if i were you i would clone the drive into another one if you want to keep the recovery partition and then format it to the windows build you want to install

@OGMike use easeus partition master if you case its cloning the ssd into another ssd you would need an m.2 to usb adapter or m.2 usb enclosure if yo only have one m.2 port in the motherboard if 2 you can clone the old to the new straight away as long as the new on its detected bare in mind the usb adapter if what u would need its sata or nvme you can just clone it to a normal hdd aither via usb enclosure/dock or removing the internal hdd and insert a new one to clone it into

Alright, it's been a minute since ive posted in here, but here is a little update, ive fixed the freezing, it is caused by faulty audio drivers, but still not so lucky with my blackscreen BS, but it seems ive been able to bring it to a minimal by doing a in place windows repair, after doing that, i didnt have it happen in over a week, until now sadly, but as long as i can keep it to a minimal, i will be upgrading my desktop and boom problem solved lol...that is until, i leave for six months in November and only option is to take this laptop with me.

Nope. The upgraded desktop & a 24" LCD would fit nicely inside a rolling backpack as a carry-on.  :)   Jack E/NJ

Alright, hopefully this is the last post I will make on here, but I’ve come to a conclusion, I hate to give up on the laptop, but I emailed the retailer and I’m still eligible for a refund so it looks like this weekend I will be sending my ph315-51 off and saying my goodbyes, and I will also be selling my other Helios 300 to a buddy of mine, so I can rebuild my desktop, with all that being said, what is another good gaming laptop that you guys would recommend or should I go ahead and just buy another Helios 300? I mean I loved the laptop other than that one major issue and the thermal issues but that is a simple fix, but I also would like a MSI laptop. I’m kinda torn since MSI will be more expensive for same specs and probably 120hz screen instead of 144hz.

How are you gonna rebuild your desktop unless you take it with you? What am I missing here? Jack E/NJ

All other manufacturers also have thermal issues and even worse than the Predators so good luck with that :)

@xapim yea I’m aware other brands have thermal issues, but I’ve never really seen so many thermal complaints on other brands, granted the Helios is probably one of the most popular if not most popular laptop for gaming.
