Similar to sleep mode, hibernation is a power feature that can significantly save your PC's battery power without having to fully power off your device. Hibernation is typically used when you know that your won't be using your PC for an extended period of time. When waking your PC from hibernation you'll notice that it takes longer than if you were to put your PC to sleep. Although it takes longer to wake up, hibernation still picks up where you left off with open applications.
To Disable or Enable Hibernation in Windows:
- Click on the Start ⊞ button and type cmd
- On the right-side, ensure that it shows Command Prompt and click Run as administrator
- If asked to 'Allow the app to make changes' click Yes
- In the Command Prompt window, type powercfg.exe /hibernate off
- On your keyboard, press Enter
- Hibernation is now disabled
- To enable hibernation, type powercfg.exe /hibernate on
- On your keyboard, press Enter
- Hibernation is now enabled
