Google Chrome allows multiple users to have separate browsing experiences on the same device by setting up additional profiles. This feature is especially useful for families, shared devices, or keeping personal and work-related browsing separate. Follow the steps below to create and manage Chrome profiles.
Creating a New Chrome Profile
- Open Google Chrome.
- If a new tab opens, click the profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
- At the bottom of the menu that appears, select Add.
- Follow the on-screen steps to create a new profile.
- You will be prompted to sign into a Google account. If you have one, enter your credentials. If you don’t, select Continue without an account to create a local profile.
Switching Between Chrome Profiles
If you have multiple profiles set up, Chrome may prompt you to choose a profile when you open the browser. To switch profiles:
- Click the profile icon in the top-right corner of Chrome.
- Select the profile you want to switch to from the list.
Managing Chrome Profiles
- To remove a profile, go to the profile selection screen, click the three-dot menu next to the profile, and select Remove.
- You can personalize each profile with a name, color, and unique settings to keep browsing experiences distinct.
