Your Predator Helios 18 AI supports dual-channel DDR5 memory and can handle up to 192 GB using four SO-DIMM modules, with speeds up to 4400 MT/s. For the best performance, we recommend using memory modules from the same brand and with the same capacities, as mixing different memory modules could lower the memory speed of your computer.
If you want to install DDR5 memory modules in your PH18-73 computer, you need to install them in the right slot. To make sure you install them in the right order, follow the steps below.
How and in which order to install up to 4 DDR5 memory modules
1) Remove the base cover.
a. Remove 10 x M2.5*6.0 (Torx T6) screws from the base cover, as indicated in the picture.
b. Starting from the bottom left corner, press down on the edge of the strip cover light bar and gently pry the base cover to release the latches, as shown below.
c. Continue releasing the remaining latches on the left, right, and top sides, then remove the base cover.
2) Remove the battery pack.
a. Remove the tape securing the battery cable connection.
b. Unplug the battery cable from the mainboard connector.
c. Lift the battery pack to disengage it from the compartment studs, then remove the battery pack.
3) Remove the DIMM memory modules.
a. Remove the absorber with a mylar covering the DIMM modules.
b. Push the DIMM module clips outward to remove the existing modules.
c. Disconnect the DIMM module from the mainboard connector, then remove it.
d. Repeat steps b and c to remove the remaining DIMM modules.
4) Install the new DIMM modules.
Install the new DIMM modules in the following sequence to ensure optimal performance:
a. If installing 1 DIMM: Insert it into slot 1.
b. If installing 2 DIMMs: Insert them into slots 1 and 2.
c. If installing 3 DIMMs: Insert them into slots 1, 2, and 3.
d. If installing 4 DIMMs: Insert them into slots 1, 2, 3, and 4.
e. Insert the DIMM module into the mainboard connector and press it firmly into place.
f. Press the DIMM module down firmly until it clicks into place with the module clips.
5) Reassemble your Predator Helios 18.
a. Reattach the absorber covering the DIMM modules.
b. Carefully position the battery pack in the compartment, making sure it aligns with the studs, and gently press down to secure it in place.
c. Connect the battery cable to the mainboard connector.
d. Reattach the tape to secure the battery cable connection.
e. Reattach the base cover, starting with the latches on the left, right, top and bottom sides.
f. Reinstall all 10 screws to secure the base cover. You can now power on your Predator Helios 18 again.
