  • To force turn off the computer, you can hold the power button for about 5 seconds, or hit the reset hole right on the center bottom, between the speakers. To fix the issue, I would recommend to refresh or reset Windows, if youre running Windows with working recovery system, or just use the recovery DVDs if youre using the…
  • I wouldnt recommend to do that. In fact, I dont recommend installing 64-bit Windows on anything that has less than 4 GB of RAM. Especially on a device that doesnt have a proper SSD drive, the machine will swap (pagefile) a lot, and in turn, making your tablet run really slowly. BTW, if you intend to use such programs, why…
  • If you already have the old cradle, you can just get a $10 USB card reader, $15 USB LAN adapter, and the included microHDMI-to-VGA adapter. Youd save quite a lot of money
  • I would recommend to just acquire a Windows 8.1 install ISO, and Rufus it to your tablet. Not only it is much smaller, but there would be no bloats to be worried about. Say goodbye to McAfee. You can get the drivers from the official Acer support site, so your tablet would run identically as an Acer-shipped units, minus…
  • Just updated: Now narrator.zip is for OneNote metro app ONLY. If you want OneNote desktop app (it doesnt have to be 2013, but 2013 is available for free mind you), use narrator7.zip even on Windows 8. Beforehand, make sure you have the OneNote app/program installed and properly configured. narrator7 now uses Win+R instead…
  • It depends on which SKU of Windows your W700 has. If your W700 has Windows 8 Core or Pro, then you can easily get the official ISO and install it on your W700 like you do on a normal laptop. The process would be very straightforward. If your W700 has Windows 8 Single Language, like mine, the ISO image is not available…
  • Confirmed working with LG 2560x1080 monitor, I used the cheapest microHDMI cable I could find on Amazon

  • Unless you really need the factory Windows 8.0, I would recommend to apply the vanilla 8.1 Update 1 WIMboot image. Search the mydigitallife forum for that. If your W700 comes with Windows 8 Single Language, you need the 8.1 Single Language ISO/WIM image. Regular Core/Pro image wont work with the embedded product key.
  • bump... anybody knows? Im planning to use microHDMI-HDMI cable now
  • just found out the culprit! The problem is either screw, the ones behind the plastic strip, is loose or misaligned. I removed both screws and put them back with some amount of strength. The problem is completely gone now. As a bonus, now palm rejection works on OneNote with my Adonit Jot
  • Here's the official link to get the Windows 8.1 Update 1 MSU http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=42335
  • I also had one near the Start button (Windows 8.1), but it disappeared somehow after 3-4 months. Try putting the tablet inside rice like how you recover a wet phone, it should help theoritically
  • If you want as much thin as possible, theres no better choice in the world other than the Aspire S7. It is no thicker than my Nokia Lumia 820 phone. Thinnest & sexiest laptop in my opinion. The problem is it tops out at 256 GB SSD with Core i7. If you buy an S7, make sure you buy the Haswell model (i5-4xxx or i7-4xxx)…
  • If you plan to game, there are plenty of Acer touchscreen notebooks and Ultrabooks with dedicated GPU available, like some V-series, M-series or even the R-series if youre tired of traditional laptop form factor like me. Most Acer laptops are thin and lightweight, so you dont have to worry about it. The problem is none of…
  • See the Haswell S7? Turn it into a tablet! Bam! I will buy it immediately
  • I would recommend the W4 since it has the newer and more powerful 3rd-generation Intel Atom processor instead of the 2nd-generation on the W5
  • Since you didnt mention which model you have, I would provide all solutions, sorted by the easiest / most convenient: 0. Clean Up First of all, you could maximise the storage space you already have. I would recommend reading the guide I made here to regain the free space out of the box…
  • Its the light sensor, try covering it up, the display brightness will turn down. Make sure the adaptive brightness is activated. In case you ask, the one next to the front camera is the LED indicator for the camera TIP: If the auto screen brightness adjustments is too slow or unresponsive, try the registry hack here…
  • 'I have also restore the system to factory defaults/ factory image and not install any 3rd party software and it exhibits the same issues intermitmently' I think the problem lies on one of your 3rd party software since it happens only after you install the 3rd party software
