Acer ICONIA W700 Touch Screen Issue

I have bought a W700 with core i5 and 64Gig SSD. Some times my screen goes crazy and registers touch every where...like I am clicking every where, It used to happen in Chrome mostly, I uninstalled chrome and it happened once after when I was dealing with notifications on the down left most corner of screen.

Some people say it is because of static electricity, and one said it is because of chrome and one said to calibrate the screen!

I did the calibration twice and then using screen gestures became very hard so I deleted the calibration data and reset it. When It happens, if I turn screen off and on it goes away.

If I use a screen protector, can it solve the static electricity issue?

I must mention that I have the WiFi issue too, but didn't sense the throtteling issue yet!

Apparently after recovering to factory reset and not installing Chrome the problem is solved...

    So don't install Chrome!

Hi there, I have restore W700, but the problem still exsiting.

This is what happened, I attach W700 with the docking all the time, sometimes the screen not response smoothly or not response at all when I using stylus pen or finger,

accidently I cover the power button section with hand and the screen works perfect,

so everytime when it happen I either have to restart or cover the power button section with my hand

    Any thought?

    Thanks

    Andy

    hi all,

i hv got my iconia w700 for about 2 mths.

i hv solved the wifi problem via driver upgrade. make sure u uninstall the old driver before u install the new one.

on the other hand i hv got problem with the screen when im on batt power.

my screen will sometimes blink/flicker when i open the music app. i dont know how to put it. it somehow like an old tv with flicker screen.

and when i close fb app, the desktop background will show a thin trace of the fb app dsiplay.

do u guys encounter the same and any solution? thanks

    cheers

    Hi,

I would like to ask if you really íamaged to make the screen probéem go away by "only" fresh imstall and no google chrome installed that time.

Sound really interesting, but if it really does the job, i also migth do it.

    Thanks,

I have the same ghost touch issue. Touch once but it touches itself everywhere randomly.

For my unit, Acer W700 core i5, I found that if I change a desktop backgound to a plain Black, Grey or White colour, the touch screen starts to get normal. It does have some ghost touching at the beginning and it will get better after a while.

Whenever the screen got some other colours, like pink, green, blue, etc., it starts to act unusual again.

not sure if other units will have a similar issue as mine? can anyone try to change their desktop background colour?

    just found out the culprit!

The problem is either screw, the ones behind the plastic strip, is loose  or misaligned. I removed both screws and put them back with some amount of strength. The problem is completely gone now.

As a bonus, now palm rejection works on OneNote with my Adonit Jot
