Recently bought an Acer Aspire P3 bundled with Window 8. I used this for a week and surprised with the speed and performance (although as i browse as read comments i was not that great).

A while ago i updated it to windows 8.1 and got disappointed with the sluggish performance it was showing. what do i have to do to make it fast again? Smiley Sad

list of changes ive noted so far:

the automatic power on when i lift the tablet from the keyboard.

battery life drastically changed, it eats up the battery so fasssst.

Without more details about what is "sluggish", the only thing I can offer as a suggestion would be to restore the system to the shipping operating system, Windows 8.0, where it was performing as desired.

I have a new Aspire P3 and it must have the slowest wifi I have ever experienced, my series 1 ipad is quicker and that's 3 years old! Battery life is dreadful and keyboard just makes life difficult!

I have the same thing in regards to the wif being extremly sluggish.  And if I do a continious ping (ping 192.168.1.1 -t) the response time will be all over the map starting at 51 ms and going up to 700 ms.  If I do this right next to my regular laptop, pinging the same host name, the laptop does not experience the latency. When doign this, my network strength is excellent.  I have tried this on multiple networks and the same thing happens.

For the wireless, I have changed the Power Saving Mode for the "Wireless Adapter Settings" in Advanced Power Plan Options.  For both "On Battery" and "Plugged In" it is set to "Maximum Performance"

Another problem is the system will sometimes just become unresponseive and swipes on the touch sceen do nothing as if the device is locked up.  Eventualy, though, it accepts my gestures and mouse clicks.

I have also restore the system to factory defaults/ factory image and not install any 3rd party software and it exhibits the same issues intermitmently.  I have updated all my drivers for those that had updates available.

I have put the laptop/tablet on High Performance as well and that made no difference.

The next thing I need to investigate in resource monitor to see if a specific process is doing this.  However, does anyone have any suggestions?  I have done so many things over the last several months here and there and can't remember them all.  I need to start documenting them all because I have a feeling there is an issue with the hardware but I need to exhaust every potential solution.

    Thanks,

    John

I think the problem lies on one of your 3rd party software since it happens only after you install the 3rd party software

Thanks for your reply but I  indicated that I haven't installed 3rd party software and the problem still happens, please notice the "not" in the quote of me  :-)
