  • See if you can find a MacBook Pro charger that uses the USB-C interface. Those work.
  • I've done all the updates. So 1.04. But I had similar battery before and after. Haven't really done anything special that I can think of. I rarely use the battery saver mode.
  • @prasathvishnu, thanks for the report on that battery working. Good to know. I'm seeing more in the 5 hours range without any fancy tweaking - and my unit is about a year old now. That's consistent with most reports: somewhere in the 4-6 hour range.
  • I've tried about ten power supplies so far without damaging the unit. YMMV, of course. I have a couple Anker power bricks (I think I have that exact one) and have not had any luck with it charging the Acer - though it charges my N6P just fine. Three of the USB-C power supplies I have found to work show up as 14.5V / 2A…
  • For anyone interested in the above Targus ($54), consider this Dell that is $26 and works equally well: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FI7W7QO/
  • That's pretty cool that they're listing what their PD supported profiles. I wish Acer (and other manufacturers) did the same. From what I read, there's some form of negotiation in the protocol? I'm no electrical engineer... but it's pretty clear that the various devices aren't all syncing up. For comparison, our…
  • Put that unit in the "doesn't work" list. There's a lot of power options in the USB-C spec. Watts don't tell much about what works with what. 60w probably means 5V at 12A total. Or 12V at 5A. Neither seems to work for the SA12. I think it wants 18V or better - probably using the 25V spec of USB-C. The SA12 seems unable to…
  • if you're intersted in looking into it, it would be cool to find out if ALL SA12s support USB-C power. I'd bet they do. But if youll inquire, that'd be excellent.
  • It supports USB-C charging. I'm doing that. But it's interesting that you're suggesting that some SA12s will and others won't? Or are you just trying to verify that this is a Switch Alpha 12? I would assume that all the SA12s support USB-C power, as everyone who has tried it has been successful.
  • Any success? If so, what drivers did you install?
  • Of course, if you'd read these threads before purchasing... that'd be why some of us have posted what works and doesn't - because we didn't know either... and clearly, neither does Acer. It's definitely confusing that USB-C and USB3 are not at all the same thing... but I don't expect too many folks to take the time to…
  • It is a USB-C physical port with PD and display capability. Which means that it is a USB3 port as well as a power port (both for powering the tablet AND powering other things from the tablet) and it supports HDMI or DisplayPort "natively" without it appearing as a USB-attached device - the display actually appears as…
  • Here's three more USB-C power supplies that work with the SA12: Apple ($54): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VU2Z3J0/ Dell ($26): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FI7W7QO/ Choetech ($26): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HZ61WWQ/ No cable with the Apple, cable integrated with the Dell, cable included with the…
  • FTR, the MacBook situation is the same: testing everything is left up to the users; and not everything works. So far, everything I've tested as USB has worked over the USB-C port through all the USB-C "docks" or "adapters" I've tried. The USB-PD (power) portion has been spotty. I'm guessing it will improve over time. One…
  • So far, all USB-C cables I have tested (all decent / good cables from reputable sellers - though not all checked on the Benson list) have all performed the same. FWIW.
  • I wish someone would test the USB-C power the Acer is using - or post what the input options it's expecting / negotiating might be. This USB-PD slide-show describes the six current profiles available on slide 9 - profile 0-5. http://www.usb.org/developers/powerdelivery/PD_1.0_Introduction.pdf Interesting that 29W (Apple's…
  • Echoing what a couple others said above, the quality of the stylus experience with the SA12 is not top-notch. As others noted, there have been worse experiences - I've had the Dell DV8P as well (version one and two) and the first version of that was truly terrible. The real message here is that it did improve as they…
  • I'm looking for one as well. Here's what I've learned: while a Macbook will power with less than the ideal USB-C (29W - I think it's 12V / 3A-ish), the Acer wants that full power. A Macbook USB-C charger works. The Targus works. The Dell works. But many do not. So... eventually someone will have a battery pack that will…
  • Note / keep in mind that the USB-C port can also be used for charging with a power-supply that works with the Apple 12" Macbook. 29W seems to be the operative value. Not all wall chargers have worked for me, but the Apple one does. So... find an external battery that will work with the Mac and... should work. Please post…
