  • I got a new set of USB drives specifically for recovery drives. I am going through the formatting process on another computer (not the Acer in question). The only FAT option I have is exFAT (or NTFS). Does exFAT work? I went through the cleaning process in the command prompt, created the primary partition, then tried 3…
  • OK now I am really confused. I couldn't find a screen shot of Audacity. However, I dug in my files and I found an old (several years old - from 2012) install file for v2.0.0. What I had installed was just downloaded after the refresh on the computer - 2.3.3. The old version (from 2012 - 8 years ago) looks correct. The new…
  • Please see the opening post. The resolution isn't the issue. I will see if I can find a screen shot of the Audacity program from before for comparison.
  • Overall, there is a crisp'ness to the look of most things that isn't there. The screen shot here shows 3 different things. 1. The little window in the middle. A lot of times these windows appear "fuzzy" like the graphics aren't completely clear. The OK button in the bottom right of this one is about all I can see that may…
  • I already answered that. The drive does what the SD card did - it wipes the HD. It does not restore. What I need are the factory restore files for this computer. If Windows has the license stored in the computer (license key as part of the bios) then it would appear any windows install will work. So if that is the case -…
  • Due to COVID-19 they are no longer processing Erecovery media orders. https://store.acer.com/en-us/extended/recovery/#_ga=2.54609775.514944723.1587776294-1641178579.1587776294 Any other ideas?
  • I think Im done screwing with the fornatting and loading files to the usb now. I am putting the base windows 10 on right now. See below for a picture of the partition selection upon starting the install process. Is there a way to get the factory recovery files from another source where I can use a utility, for example, to…
  • Well it ran, but it went as far as the original SD card got me - will not rebuild the computer, just wiped the HD.
  • I changed the boot order to the USB drive first then restarted the computer. The Recovery drive is working thus far - it is running. I will post back once its complete.
  • Update - I found a way thru windows to get to it: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5831-boot-uefi-firmware-settings-inside-windows-10-a.html
  • I am trying to get in to the bios on the computer now and the F2 command at start up does not work. I tried putting the original SD card in the first USB port and tried the F12 command at start up. That does not work, either. This is with the base windows 10 install running on the computer. Is there something I need to do…
  • Got the WinRAR extraction done. Everything is loaded to the USB drive now. Will give it a shot. Can you get a screen shot showing what is in each of the folders on the root of your backup drive? Thanks for all the assistance - from everyone - this far.
  • Comments pertain to the bold - That is precisely what I need.
  • All I got was a boot.rar file. Also of note looking at your files (thank you very much for showing that by the way) - I do not have the BOOT folder on the root of the file set. See back in the thread a little bit. I have 3 screen shots showing what is in the root and what is in the 2x folders in the root.
  • This is the process that I did - link to the page where it is below:https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026852/windows-create-a-recovery-drive To create a recovery drive in Windows 10: * In the search box next to the Start button, search for Create a recovery drive and then select it. You might be asked to enter an…
  • Highlighted pertains to my comments. When I created the Recovery disk (what I wrote to the original SD card) this is what I thought I was getting:- Reboot tools to process the rebuild of the computer- OS - meaning Windows - Factory suite - meaning the applications Acer puts on the computer, drivers for the hardware of the…
  • That makes no sense to me. The partitions are there and there isn't anything that tells me the data is not in those partitions. When I went through the new install of windows 10 it asked me what partition I wanted to install it to - and those 4 were there. So there has to be a way to get the data from those partitions.
  • When I enable hidden files and folders on my C drive list this is what I get: So it does not appear that I have the Recovery folder. If the data is there in the partitions there has to be a way to access it some how, no? If it can't be accessed straight from the drive then maybe the information can be extracted and sent to…
  • I am using the laptop in question at the moment. Attached is a screen shot of the partitions of the drive on it. The red box is the Recovery partition that I was referring to. I did not do anything to it manually in this process. The partitions have not been messed with on this HD at all from me. My understanding is that…
  • See my post yesterday with the 3 screen shots of the files. The middle image with the 3 files is the root of the SD card. The other two are the folders/files in each of the 2 folders in the root.
