After your Chromebook reaches a full charge (100%), the system will begin charging the battery until the charge drops below 96%. This is by design and is intended to help increase the life of the battery. Once the charge in the battery is below 96%, the system will begin charging the battery.
Note: As the battery charge gets closer to100%, the charge current supplied to the system is decreased. This is done to reduce the battery temperature and increase the life of the battery. This means it will take longer to charge from 96% to 100%, than it does to charge from 85-90%.
