In ChromeOS, you can decide what applications have access to your Chromebook's camera and microphone. This feature ensures that you are able to protect your privacy and control what applications have access to your data.
How to disable or enable camera access
- Select the Clock in the lower right corner.
- Select the gear icon to open the Settings⚙️ application.
- On the left side of the Settings window, select Privacy and security.
- On the right side, select Privacy controls.
- Select Camera access.
- Select the switch at the top to disable camera access for all applications.
- Locate a specific application and select the switch to disable camera access.
How to disable or enable microphone access
- Select the Clock in the lower right corner.
- Select the gear icon to open the Settings⚙️ application.
- On the left side of the Settings window, select Privacy and security.
- On the right side, select Privacy controls.
- Select Microphone access.
- Select the switch at the top to disable microphone access for all applications.
- Locate a specific application and select the switch to disable microphone access.
