How do I change the default search engine on my Acer Chromebook?

How to change the search engine on your Chromebook
- Launch a Google Chrome web browser.
- Click on the Menu ⋮ in the top right corner and select Settings.
- Select Search Engine from the options on the left.
- In the Search engine section on the right, use the drop down for Search engine used in the address bar to select the search engine you want to use. The default options you can select are Google, Bing, and Yahoo.
How to add other search engines to your Acer Chromebook
You can add other search engines if you prefer to use a search engine like AOL, DuckDuckGo, Baidu, or others. Use the instructions below to add a search engine.
- Launch a Google Chrome web browser.
- Go to the website of the search engine you want to add (i.e. https://duckduckgo.com).
- Perform a search for any topic using that search engine.
- Click on the Menu ⋮ in the top right corner of your browser and select Settings.
- Select Search Engine from the options on the left.
- Click on Manage search engines and site search.
- Scroll all the way down to the section labeled Inactive Shortcuts and click on the Activate button for the shortcut you want to use. This will add the search engine to the Site Search list.
- Click on the ellipses ⋮ next to the search you want to make default, then select Make Default.
