There are several methods you can use to see the Frames Per Second (FPS) you are getting during game play. Remember that FPS might vary depending on the game and your device’s capabilities.
Some of the methods listed below require you to install third party apps or extensions. The Apps and extensions listed are only provided as examples and are not recommended by Acer. You should always do your own research and check to make sure software or extensions you are installing are safe for use before installing.
How to view FPS on your Chromebook
1. Built-in Developer Tools: For web-based games:
- Open your Chrome web browser.
- Click on the ⋮ Menu in the top right corner and select More Tools > Developer Tools or press Ctrl + Shift + I to open Developer Tools.
- Click on the developer tools ⋮ Menu and select More Tools > Rendering.
- Click on the Rendering tab and check the box for FPS Meter to show the FPS monitor in the top left corner.
2. Enable FPS Counter in Steam (if you use Linux apps):
If you have installed Steam on your Chromebook using Linux, you can enable the FPS counter:
- Open Steam and go to Settings.
- Under the In-Game section, look for In-game FPS counter and select your desired position on the screen.
- Launch your game, and the FPS will be displayed.
3. Use Chrome Extensions
You can install browser extensions like GameBench or FPS Monitor. Search for them in the Chrome Web Store and follow the instructions to set them up. Please note that mentioned extensions are only for example and are not tested or recommended by Acer.
4. Third-party Applications
