Acer Chromebook LTE models have a nano SIM slot to allow you to use LTE mobile data through many national cellphone carriers.¹ You will need to setup service with a cell carrier to use LTE on your device. They will provide you with a SIM card to install in your Chromebook, or a QR code that you can use to configure an eSIM profile to use LTE service. Use the instructions below to install your SIM card and setup your LTE connection. You may also want to check the website of your cellular provider for specific instructions configuring their service.
Step 1: Setup LTE service with your cellular carrier.
You will need to setup mobile LTE service with a supported cellular carrier. Your carrier will provide you with a SIM card or information for setting up your LTE using an electronic SIM (eSIM).
Step 2: Install your LTE SIM card or setup an eSIM profile.
How to Install a SIM card
- Not all Chromebook models allow you to install a SIM card. Make sure your model supports installing a SIM and using LTE service.
- Use the SIM tray removal tool to eject the SIM tray. You can use a small paperclip if you lose the removal tool.
- Place the SIM card in the SIM tray. The SIM card can only be placed in the SIM tray one way.
- Insert the SIM card back into the SIM slot as shown in the image on the right. It may take several minutes for the cellular network to recognize the new SIM card. While the network is syncing up with the computer and SIM card, the network may connect and disconnect several times.
- The cell phone company may need to associate the SIM card with the IMEI number from the bottom of the notebook.

- Select the time on the bottom right, then select Settings ⚙.
- Click on Network, then select Mobile data.
- Select the add network icon in the eSIM menu.

- Select Next and wait for eSIM profile to install, then click Done.
Step 3: Connect to your LTE mobile network
After you have activated the setup your SIM or eSIM and enabled mobile data, you will need to connect to the network.
- Select the time on the bottom right, then select Settings ⚙.
- Click on Network.
