Chromebook may randomly restart or lock up

Why is my Chromebook randomly restarting or freezing?

Some Chromebook models with Apollo Lake Processors may randomly restart or lock up. Google has released Chrome OS version 70 to resolve this issue. Your Chromebook should auto update to the latest version of the Chrome OS. You can check your operating system version and manually update it using the steps below.

Click the status area, where your account picture appears.
Click Settings then click About Chrome OS. Your Chrome OS version will be displayed.
In the “About” window that appears, click Check for and apply updates.

If you have Chrome OS 70 installed and are still experiencing restarts, please contact Acer support.
