What are you using your laptop on? Your laptop should NEVER hit 97C, and if it does you need to send it in for repair.
Temps do not hit high temperatures on battery because the gaming is throttled. When the laptop is on AC, it can still pull a little bit of power from the battery, and is normal. There is no way to disconnect the battery from being used without unplugging the battery.

    Skelo
Battlefront 2 has brought it to 97c briefly at least 6 times. Average is probably 90c. PUBG typically runs an average of 85c with highs of 92c. Both these games are not run on full ultra settings. Most unimportant game graphics are turned down to low. I also run on a cooling table with duel fans drawing power from the laptop.

I'm not crazy about having to send the laptop away as I also need it for work related matters. I am very new to high end computing. I fully understand the nature of thermal pasting but I am hesitant to try it at this time. I have only had the laptop for 6 weeks.
When repasting, make sure you also change the thermal pads. There is a chance that it won't come in contact again since it's been pressed previously. Just be safe. I changed mine without paying any attention to thermal pads. Right now, even since around 2 months ago I have been feeling that my laptop gets pretty warm. Also, when purchasing a thermal paste, look at the thermal conductivity. Since it's a high-end processor, it may emits more heat. The famous Arctic MX-4 has 6 W/mK, while Arctic Silver 5 has 8.9 W/mK. Just recently I found a 13.8 W/mK thermal paste: TF8 Thermal Compound Paste 13.8 for just $11. The last time I used Arctic Silver 5 and it did not do its job so well. I would recommend you to try that $11 thermal paste. Also, don't be afraid of putting a little too much. In fact, according to a test done by Linus Tech Tips on YouTube, being too generous does not impact the thermal what so ever. You would only be wasting slightly more than necessary. However, giving it too little has negative impact.

AS5 its a ghost from the past its no good to any gaming laptop/desktop anymore it was premium 5/6 years ago now its obsolete i myself prefer kryonaut its expensive but dropped my temps 25+ :)

    Hello guys,

My laptop is: Acer Predator Helios 300 PH-315-51, i5-8300H, GTX 1050Ti, 16GB RAM, 480GB SATA III SSD, Windows 10 Pro.

I'm having some issues with PredatorSense, hence when I game and leave the fans on auto I get insane CPU temperatures, around 99 degrees and then it thermal throttles (I've also undervolted the laptop by -0.150V on Core and Cache Voltage offset).
Today I've tried to play games but with fans on maximum speed and got pretty decent temps ranging from 73 to 81 degrees. Am I supposed to play games like that? Is CoolBoost even required?
The issue is that the laptop at 6122 rpms is very loud and I would like to fix the heating issue some other way. Can you provide some advice?

dwyde i always play with fans on auto and coolboost on and never go over 80 max cpu 75 max gpu on ultra (demanding games) but i have optimized aindows undervolted and repasted with kryonaut so if you dont feel comfortable with the fans noise on max i suggest a repaste if you can open it yourself without voiding your warranty if not ask acer support in your country to repaste it for you

Hey guys, my G3-571 reaches 90 C  while gaming even though I already have undervolted my CPU with -120mv.

People say that undervolting the integrated graphics card and GTX 1060 will help, will doing this make a substantial difference? I'm having doubts because my GPU isn't overheating and the integrated GPU shouldn't be in use while gaming.

What else can I do to lessen the temperature (besides reapplying thermal paste; the warranty is important to me).
I assume this model is similar to G3-572, in the latter the copper heatsink forms a single piece and is shared by both the GPU and the CPU. The GPU is closer to the fans(*) and this probably helps in making it get less hot, but the heat generated by the GPU goes to the CPU through the shared heatsink. This is why while gaming the CPU usually gets hotter than when you run benchmarks alone for it. So yes, cooling the GPU will help the CPU, as the GPU will transfer less heat to the CPU.

(*) you would assume that each has a dedicated fan, but that's not the case for this model. It is simply a single shared heatsink with two fans, a sort of bad design but that can be mitigated by repasting and undervolting (watch several videos to get things right).

Me, like almost everybody else here, got the same ~90°C temps and dropped then significantly by repasting and undervolting. I'm even overclocking the GPU and temps remain good. I can make this baby yield 2000MHZ at 1000mV with memory +445MHZ, all of which with the same temp and so far fairly stable. On top of that, the CPU scores higher on benchmarks with the core/cache undervolt of -154mV!

Both GPU and CPU average mid 60s, spikes to at most mid 70s.

I honestly doubt you can achieve that without repasting properly and using good product, I used kryonaut. Only the paste alone got me out of the 90°C range. But each hardware is unique,, download the tools and perform the undervolt to see if you can do without repasting.

DarkGod i dont agree with anything you said asus its not better than acer because they mainly use max q gpus not desktop gpus so they dont have the same performance and they are under clocked and power limited to not heat much and regarding the thermal throttle its easy to fix its by optimizing windows undervolt it and if needed in some cases repaste it with kryonaut or similar but its ok if you think asus its better than acer i dealt with some asus and the are all rubbish especially the TUF variants completely useless i would do a good research before saying what you said above but again get an asus if you dont have it already and good luck with it to me the only thing asus has and its too much its rgb lighting they always are over excessive with it

PS: switching the turbo off its not an option at all (its the dumbest option/fix i had even seen done to lower the temps) thats killing the beast anyone who thinks thats a good option should buy a core i3 instead not a gaming laptop because thats what u get when u disable the turbo

<<<Asus sells there brand of gpu, CPU>>>>

And i dunno what you mean by asus sells their own brand of cpu/gpu all manufacturers use the same intel/amd/nvidia (some opt for the downclocked max q instead of the real desktop performance gpus) you should really start to read more and learn about what you post because it makes absolutely no sense to me at all

@XdxD No they arent they are desktop graphic cards :) and they dont sell their own brand of gpu they do like everyone else they buy the gpu's to nvidia and amd and rebrand them to their own name to manufacture their own graphic cards to me that reselling the gpu no manufacturing it lol same as powercolor his etc... so many others do the same to try to overclock them with better cooling but DarkGod  thats just reselling its not owning the gpu itself the sell graphic cards not gpus :p i hope you understood it and acer if they wanted im pretty sure they could do exactly the same but for what theres already too much competition in the graphic cards business not worth it at all

  • Just to throw in some interesting bits of info.

    I OC'ed my GPU +180 on MSI AB and ran 3dMark quite a bit (on a 2060 Max P) with a respectable +600 mem. Any higher I would crash/stutter.

I decided to modify the Predator sense config to replicate these values and my scores jumped up a bit..
I thought that was curious so I pushed it to +200 / +900 on predator sense and I decimated my previously #1 rank in 3dMark.

I'm wondering if there isn't some GPU power boost on turbo?
    Anyone else see something similar?

P.S. ASUS TUF and it's 25w PL can shove it. 😅

I have found that my Predator Helios 300 hits 97c CPU temps only while charging and playing games. If I play those same games on battery power alone, temps will only hit 60c. My question is, can I run my Helios 300 without the battery and solely AC power

No. Battery is meant to complement the AC Adaptor during GPU intensive tasks.

No, it is not normal, the utility life of your CPU & GPU can reduce a lot, my temperatures were the same but here is a little trick that helped me making the max temp. 70°. Right click on your battery icon --> Energy options --> have your high performance selected --> click on Change plan configuration --> Change advanced energy configuration --> scroll down and expand Processor power management --> expand Minimum processor status and also expand Maximum processor status --> change both options of With AC form 100% to 99%.

Jorjais0117 yes disabling turbo boost thats a great advice congratulations and  please check your facts before you advise disabling turbo boost its not a solution if you run into an app/game that needs turbo to boost youre stuck on default cpu clock settings (anyone will notice when this happens might even cause freeze/crash of games/software in some cases) the solution its to optimize windows and undervolt check here and if still needed repaste it with kryonaut or similar if you can without voiding your warranty or contact acer support directly and send it to get it repasted with stock paste

Jimmyhow89 you should try your temps on a proper optimized game cod its not the devs do not care much for optimization just selling everyone is having temp issues with cod even on desktops so again thats not the proper game to check your temps

PS: i strongly advise anyone against disabling turbo boost do it at your own risk

    Hi there

    I have a strange idea
So let's see the base of my plan
There is 2 type of fan in this laptop
1 with metal blades, and higher performance on the GPU
1 with plastic fan on the CPU

Today when my re-paste-ing and cleaning my laptop, i tried the GPU fan to the CPU fans place, aaaand it fits.

So can you help me in that? Will it work if I buy a gpu fan and change my cpu fan to it?

The voltage what they using is the same?

    Have any idea?

CyberNetik yes it will the fans are exactly the same the only difference its that the acer proprietary aeroblade are metal and the normal delta are plastic the plastic you can easily find them anywhere they are easily cloned bu many manufacturers and sold cheap the aeroblade fans you cannot find them anywhere only acer or one of the parts partners would have them on the 2017/18 models the GPU its always the aeroblade and the cpu the plastic delta some models have 2 aeroblades depending on the country and the many existing variants of each model
