How do I reset my computer in Windows 10?
Windows 10 does not require you to have a physical copy of your recovery media to reset your computer. Windows recovery offers the following options:
Keep my files - Removes apps and settings, but keeps your personal files.
Remove everything - Removes all of your personal files, apps, and settings.
Restore factory settings - Removes everything and completely reinstalls your original operating system. This option is only available if you have upgraded to Windows 10 from another version of Windows.
Use the steps below to reset your computer.
- Click the Start menu and select Settings.
- Click Update & Security.
- Click Recovery.
- Click Restart now. Your computer will restart and boot to a blue Windows Recovery Management screen.
- Click Troubleshoot.
- Click Reset this PC.
- Choose your desired restore option and follow the instructions on your screen.
