Why is my touchpad not working?
Most Acer laptop’s feature function keys that also double as media keys. If your laptop’s touchpad suddenly stops working, you may have accidentally disabled it using the touchpad media key.
How to Change the Behavior of the Function Keys
- Enter the BIOS setup. You can do so by restarting your computer, then once you see the startup logo, press and hold down the F2 key.
- Once in the BIOS, use the right arrow key on your keyboard to navigate to the Main tab at the top of the screen.
- Under Main, locate Function key behavior. Press the down arrow on your keyboard until it is highlighted, the press Enter to select it.
- In order to prevent accidentally disabling the touchpad, highlight Function Key and press Enter to confirm your selection.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit the BIOS.
Note: You can still use the media key functions even with the Function behavior selected. On your keyboard press the Fn key + the media key that you're wanting to use.
