  • ..the simplest solution is to buy another computer. Preferably one that doesn't annoy you with the kind of problems you're experiencing. But buying a computer new or used is as much a game of uncertainty as anything else.
  • there's a saying.......if you're asking the question; you already know what the answer is. Windows laptops are notorious for flaws; but the tradeoff is user friendly simplicity. rarely anything in the world doesn't operate by the rules of a Windows operating system. alternative operating systems like Chromebooks require a…
  • From the gist of the original post; all anyone needs to know is that you buy a new computer; the first time it's turned on and the operating system sets up while you are logged into a wifi network or some other connection; the clock starts. If there are computers people buy new but reach it's update expiration shortly…
  • a google search gives you the results for that specific model chromebook charger; you can buy one at the Acer store; Amazon for what looks like either $20 or $40 dollars plus tax and shipping
  • if by "so slow" the commenter is referring to web browsing; going into the settings for the overall laptop's web or browser settings might improve performance. I tend to think people are fooled into thinking performance is all about whatever speed a user is using. I often times find myself more satisfied doing internet…
  • I agree with JackE I bought my Acer Google Chrome CB3-532 in 2017. Still works to this day because I only use it for a few activities; what I haven't stored in the Google Drive cloud - resume; documents; pictures; video; etc - I keep on my old USB thumb drive stick I bought around that same time. Feeling like you want more…
  • Update #2 went on the TracFone website; seems they rolled out a $40 dollar 8G plan month to month with as they say "hotspot capabilities" I'm like - ok so what happened to the whole TracFone doesn't support mobile tethering thing. What exactly do they think users will use hotspot capability for? Needless to say; yeah; I…
  • Update: in the last two hours. I sent a message (tweet) to TracFone in which their reply was "the company line" (TracFone does not support mobile tethering etc etc) However a funny thing has occurred. The original tweet reply has apparently been edited. Now the tweet reads like a standard generic response "we apologize for…
  • Just about every laptop today is exactly like a cellphone. Everything is hardwired in tight. When you buy it; you buy it; preinstalled with everything the manufacturer wants you to have. Nothing more. Nothing less. If you're unsatisfied; buy another one. Preferably newer and more expensive than what you currently have. The…
  • i find it weird that the two most familiar and bought electronic devices; cellphones and laptops are becoming whole units. hardware repair itself is obsolete; it's as if the make you junk the whole thing and buy a new laptop if and when the current one becomes unusable. i guess that's the trade-off for making laptops cheap…
  • i'm not interested in reinstalling anything. my thing is if the chrome "powerwash" feature is what it's meant to be; it's supposed to wipe everything from the laptop; settings as well as changes made like wallpaper. so when I buy another laptop and sell this one; I don't have to worry about any remaining information on it…
  • on the failed attempt; the first screen that appears is was the usual log-on screen with the background wallpaper i use. which told me that the powerwash didn't work. once i logged in; then the wifi setup page came up and i was on the desktop menu. if the powerwash worked; there should be no log-on window for me to see;…
  •  if you mean the sync setting; yeah. I guess if that might have something to do with why power wash didn't "work" the way it's supposed to; I'll try again after I buy a new laptop (not a Chromebook)
  • disappearing cursor seems to be the problem for any modern day laptop with the touchpad below the keyboard.
  • ...thanks for the reply but with my USB cable having been delivered; I no longer have any printing problems. Although I would much would have preferred not to have bought it given it's designed to be a wireless printer. I just happen to have the one version of a laptop and printer in which a wireless connection just…
  • ..for some reason my chromebook can't "register" the wireless printer. I seem to be able to directly connect with it through direct wi-fi connection; but the tricky part is that - that direct wi-fi connection is not an internet connection. Which seems to be the problem. When clicking on the brand name listed in the…
  • . Thanks for the response. As I said in my last message I use wifi hotspots. I don't pay for a personal wifi signal. In contacting the printer manufacturer; they said the printer won't work logged in to a hotspot.
  • google cloud print doesn't work. so the "when all else fails" isn't an option either, I connect to WIFI on my laptop through a hotspots in the apartment building I live in. Thus making it a need to direct connect through the wifi or router signal that's preinstalled in the wireless printer. thanks for the response
  • check the power button; perhaps that mechanism is what is faulty; take it to a repair shop; odds are the motherboard needs to be replaced.
