  • Recovery finished. Still Unknown Device missing a driver, PLUS.... it will not let me enable WiFi, hence no internet connection ( network adaptor not installed). I am sending it back to seller for refund. Bought it from eBay. Not what I expected. A HUGE mistake. But, your post deserves to be marked as Solution. So, I did.…
  • OK. Thank you. That is the part I did not know. I just simply connected the dvd/rw to the hub, hub to tablet, and tablet to the power source. That appatently does not work. I have now connected the dvd/rw directly to the power source and now Recovery is in progress. I chose reset to factory default keeping nothing. Hope it…
  • Update...... I tried to do recovery again. This time I inserted the DVD before selecting USB CDROM from Boot menu. No good. I was sent right back to my desktop as last time. I tried to use the dvd/rw to play cd music. It worked. But it does not play retail ( not home-made) dvd videos. What a mess I got myself into buying…
  • If I uninstall the broadcom wireless adapter, how do I re-install it ? Thank you.
  • Thank you for the reply. I have a change of heart. My reasons of wanting to do Recovery ..... 1. my Unknown Device is missing the driver and I am unable to find a driver to install.( See my other thread .) 2. when playing music, the sound is very thin and low even the volume is jacked up to max.( I have checked the Play…
  • Adding ............. Tablet just finished system image backp. It was successful.
  • Finally the Micro USB Dual OTG Hub Cable + Power For Acer Iconia A1 W3 A510 A510 A700 Tablet I ordered throgh eBay has arrived. I am now doing the system image backp on my tablet. For the benefit of others who might want to know how...... Plug in the tablet to DC outlet > plug in the external hard drive > connect the…
  • I omitted to mention, both 2.0 and 2.01 versions failed..... not compatible. i installed the 1.0 version. The only one that was accepted. As to manual update, I also tried both ways..... Online and from my computer. Both results failed to find the driver. Think I will use my 2 Recovery disks ( came with the tablet ) and…
  • Yes. Iconia W3-810 windows tablet. System says it cannot find the driver to install. Told me to go to Manufacturer website. What I got from Acwer Drivers website is a 2.0 version, BUT my tablet says it is NOT compatible. I ended up installing the same one but 1.0 verson. IT does not help my issue at all.
  • Right click at Unknown Device will give the following options..... Update driver software Disable Uninstall Scan for hardware changes Properties
  • Where can I find HardwareID ? As shown on my previous screenshot, the Properties drop down menu has no HardwareID option.
  • Thank you. Now , this tablet comes with 2 recovery disks. Aren't they the equivalent of "factory reset" AND/OR Acer recovery ? If so, why the bother of giving me a recovery partition as well ? Given the limited disk space capacity ( 32GB ), wouldn't it be better served to bundle everything into C drive ?
  • Thank you. But it says it is not compatible.
  • Thank you. I had read that. from the links you gave me. No. It's too complicated for a "casual use" tablet. But, thanks anyway.
  • Untill I have found better ways to make use of the sd card, this is what I have done.... 1. Drag and drop my personal files to the sd card.So far a whooping collection of 3 pictures. OnrDrive or DropBox will also help. 2. Since I have the recovery disks ( came with the tablet ), and it has been upgraded to Win 8.1, I…
  • Thank you for the links. I still don't know what can I do with the sd card added to the tablet. Need further elaboration. Thank you.
  • I am under the impression that a micro sd card is to supplement the storage capacity. If that is not true, then what is the sd card used for and how ?
  • Final update....... Success at last after 20 hours+. All previos failed updates are installed. Successfully upgraded to Win 8.1 after 2 failed attempts. ( darn if I knew why.) Now I can go to bed.
  • I just gave up and walked away from it. Let it do the reverting "stuff". It took hours but finally it restarted. That's what happened to my case.
  • .......... IF you didn't already, make sure your W3 is plugged in to power during updates/upgrades. Thank you. The battery was stone-cold dead when I got the tablet. I have it plugged in since it arrived at my door. The tablet was so hot during 5-6 hours of download > install > configure, that I was worried it would catch…
