Windows 10 updates may cause system slowness or freezing during download and installation

Why does my Windows 10 system lag or lockup after installing updates?

Microsoft frequently releases updates that automatically install to your system to make sure your operating system is up to date. These update packages may be large and can impact system performance while they are downloading and installing. If you are experiencing system performance issues, Acer recommends you ensure that all available updates have been completely downloaded and applied to your system. Use the following steps to check the status of your Windows updates.

Click the Start menu then select Settings.
Click Update & Security.
Click Windows Update. Windows will automatically check for updates and automatically download and install them if any are available.
Verify the status of Windows updates in the Update Status section. System performance may be impacted until the following actions are completed.

Downloading Updates - Windows is in the process of downloading updates. System performance will be slower until all updates have been completely downloaded and installed.

Installing Updates - Windows updates are installing. System performance will be slower until all updates have been completely installed.
