When your computer powers on (you can hear the fan running and see the keyboard lights), but your computer screen does not appear to be on, use the troubleshooting steps below to see if they will resolve the issue.
- Check Display Selection: Press the Fn+F5 keys at the same time to toggle between internal and external display mode to see if it resolves the issue.
- Drain Stored Power: Disconnect the power cable and hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain any residual power. Then, reconnect the power and reboot the computer.
- Connect an External Monitor:
- Power off your computer completely by holding the power button down for 5 seconds.
- Attach an external monitor to your computer and power your computer.
- Once the computer boots, verify if you have an image on the external monitor. If you have an image on the screen you should run the Windows Troubleshooter and update the BIOS using the steps below.
- Run the Windows Troubleshooter:
- Click on Start ⊞ and select Settings ⚙.
- Click on System and select Troubleshoot.
- Click on Other troubleshooters.
- Click on Run for the Search and Indexing troubleshooter.
- Follow the instructions in the troubleshooter and let the system run its course.
- Once the troubleshooter is done, restart your computer. If the issue persists, try running the troubleshooter again.
- Update your BIOS:
- Visit the Acer Support Site.
- Enter your serial number, SNID or model number and search for your device.
- Click on BIOS/Firmware.
- Download and install the latest BIOS for your system.
