Sleep mode is a power-saving mode that allows you to quickly start your laptop without having to go through the reboot process. Your laptop will go into sleep mode by default when you close the lid. This will prevent an external monitor from displaying if one connected. You can change the settings in Windows to prevent the computer from going to sleep when the lid is closed.
Note: This mode will consume battery and may cause overheating issues if the laptop is placed in a bag. It is recommended to only allow this setting if your laptop is plugged in and placed in an area where the laptop will not overheat easily.
How to keep your laptop on when closed
- Click on Start ⊞ and select Control Panel.
- Click on Hardware and Sound.
- Click on Power Options.
- Click on Choose what closing the lid does in the left menu.
- Select Do Nothing to keep your computer on and awake when the lid is closed.
