    Did you try to update your video card driver to see if it solves this problem?
    Is there any other way than Driver Booster or similar apps? Because this program is reporting latest drivers on both our systems.

    This is what Intel says about its UHD 630 Graphics:

    A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver & Support Assistant is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.

    Also, updated NVIDIA to the latest version. Didn't help.
  • This happens because the manufacturer takes a generic driver and makes some changes to optimize the driver! However manufacturers do not usually update drivers so often, which makes the user get an outdated driver!
    You can try uninstalling and deleting the driver from the manufacturer through the device manager! Then download and install the generic intel driver and check if the problem persists! If it persists then you should wait for some microsoft update!
    If you have problems with the generic driver, simply download the manufacturer's driver again from the Acer website!

    Very sorry for the delayed response. I was just to busy and kept on forgetting and postponing to update the thread. My laptop had a breakdown for a reason still unknown to me. So, anyways, I had to format it. This time I formatted it clean, deleting all my files with the secure delete option selected and without internet connection. After setting it up and installing all the updates, etc., I tired the power button. It still doesn't work!! Hibernation was creating troubles again, however, powercfg -h off and on fixed that. Seems like it's a bug in the factory version of this laptop's software, possibly?
  • Did you reinstall windows using the alt + f10 command when connecting to the notebook or using an iso from microsoft?

    I formatted using the windows advanced startup menu. The one with the blue screen and options like continue to Windows 10...
  • I recommend you reinstall the operating system, but this time you will use the recovery partition of Acer!
    To do this, restart the notebook and keep pressing the alt + f10 keys before the Acer logo! You should see a blue screen like this video:

    I recommend you reinstall the operating system, but this time you will use the recovery partition of Acer!

    I didn't do by that method but the blue screen I talked about looks the same. I reached there by forcing power off thrice in a row when the laptop in on Acer logo.
  • You used the recovery of windows 10! When using the Acer recovery partition, your entire system will return to factory defaults! Even the windows version will be different from the current version!

    It was. My windows version was downgraded. I had to install the updates again that I remember I had installed just 2 days before the reset. All other windows and driver updates were uninstalled too.
  • I think some of these updates are interfering with your notebook's power options! The 1803 version unfortunately still has incompatibilities with some hardware!

    Agreed @egydiocoelho . Make sure system protection is enabled so restore points are created and Win10update temporarily delayed till fixes are forthcoming either by Microsoft or ACER. Jack E/NJ

    In case anyone finds this thread. My 2020 Nitro 5 laptop did the same thing with the power button - I found on another thread that it's a 'feature' that you have to hold it for a few seconds before it works.  Still really annoying.  here's a vid with AHK scripts that solve the problem! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJcuiH8bH0U
