As far as I can tell yes. The battery gets recognized by windows but it's just not charging

@dommeking Maybe this button is not being properly pressed?

but the battery reset button should not be constantly pressed while using the device, right?
  • No. The button should not be pressed all the time.

    okay, that's not the case.
how would I check if the battery is faulty or something broke on the motherboard?

If the battery worked before applying thermal paste then I believe the hardware is not having problems. Have you tried redoing all connections again?

yes, I have taken the laptop apart several times now to check if I made mistakes and have carefully reconnected everything properly
Is there a button like in the predator 15 (e.g. mentioned here: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/533948/acer-predator-battery-plugged-in-but-not-charging )
  • Whether or not the power interrupt button is installed depends greatly on the revision of the motherboard. Have you tried uninstalling the ac adapter and battery drivers in device manager and restarting windows?

Yes I have tried that (also without any luck).
I have the model with i5-8300H and rtx 2060, or how do I determine which motherboard revision I have?
And is there a database where I can find information and schematics on the laptops components?

Also, the indication lamp of the battery on the site of the device has ever since been orange and not blue like when it was working
  • We do not have the motherboard wiring diagrams. It would be interesting to know if the problem persists when reinstalling windows by pressing alt + f10 before the Acer logo?

I have reinstalled windows twice, with no difference in result
  • In this case, it would be interesting to try to restore the bios by pressing f9 and then f10.

With the machine turned off and charger plugged in, does the orange LED turn off when the charger is unplugged? Jack E/NJ

    Yes it does.
Before, it was blue when plugged in, now it's always orange. I don't know if that because of being only at 40% or because something happened

Your issue isn't the same as the OP. So with the machine turned off, leave it plugged in for about 4 hours. It should turn blue during that time. If not, the battery likely has developed an internal short and should be replaced. Jack E/NJ

Okay, I'll leave it plugged in over night when I come today and will let you know of the result.
Is it possible to confirm that the battery has an internal short in another way after that? Just to be sure before I buy a new one

Yes, highest voltage (usually between black & red wires) must be at least 15.2v. Jack E/NJ

dommeking you can also check if your battery its faulty with the battery report to see the wear percentage or with hwinfo and battery bar pro up to 15% its normal more than that the battery starts to develop faults and not hold charge ending up in dying completely this usually happens when the only battery its used while gaming or high demanding works it was not meant for that at all its only a complement to the adapter to provide more power when this one cant provide enough
