Acer One 14 Z1402 notebook - Touchpad stopped working, only the buttons are working

Hello,

I bought Acer One 14 Z1402 notebook few days before. Windows update was made once. The touch was working fine for 2 days after update and then stopped working. I tried to update the Finger sensing pad driver software (sentelic v9.4.9.9 R4 --> current one), after that the system was restarted. Still the issue continues.

Now there is error like "PC is running into problem, it will automatically restart in few moments"  then blue screen appears.

    Elangovan,

Try performing a refresh if you can, should that fail, a reset to start over. If you are having issues getting into Windows itself to perform the refresh/reset, here is an article that might help.

Hi, I have tried resetting the windows. The touchpad isn't working still. I have also tried installing the latest drivers from the official acer page but of no use. Also, I have found that my webcam isn't working and skype cannot detect it.

    jayantakh,

Well, if you restored to factory defaults and it is still having issues there might be a hardware issue we are not seeing, I would recommend you contact the Acer Technical support in your region to see what options are available to you. Smiley Frustrated

Hi there, I have the same problem as you are having plus I think we both have the same model of laptop, Acer One Z1402 Notebook. my problem is that when I bought the laptop (about 3 weeks ago as of this writing) I was able to use the touchpad (sentelic) at the time, and then I haven used it for 3 days, when I used it again, the touchpad is not working anymore, only the buttons are working (left and right click) I have tried everything (reset factory, uninstall - install updated driver and all) but to no such avail. I was wondering if you have already had it fixed on your part,

I went to the Acer Service center on our region and they told me that diagnosis will take at least 3 and if there will be a parts for replacement, it will take about 3-4 weeks. The frustation I get over this is really piling up, I was able to used it for 3 weeks, I mean I rarely used it as I have a desktop, and now I encounter such problem on an early stage where replacement of the unit is not already an option (its only 7 days replacement where I bought it).

I planned to used the unit on business trip next month where the touchpad will really come in handy when it comes to mobility so if I have it sent to my service provider and they concluded that it needs replacement, I won't be able to used it for a month. Despite buying brand new laptops, it seems I always get the defective manufactured parts (Manufacturer should have strict quality assurance regarding their products) I used to have an HP laptop, and 6 months later, LCD monitor problem

Anyways, I was wondering on how it go on your end as your post is the only site I saw that have the same similar problem as mine.

I have bought this ACER ONE 14 Z1402-394D a couple of weeks ago. Since the beginning the touchpad wasn't working properly. The pointer on the screen moves downwards(with a break) again and again even when fingers moved from down to top.
After some time, it completely stopped working, Sometimes it works "accidentally". I tried to restart-reinstalling driver from official website- device manager- etc etc but the problem still persists.
Tried with Sentelic and Synaptic both, but the problem isn't resolved.
I am using a wireless mouse always as

All---If you haven't done so already, open Device Manager. Uninstall the touchpad driver altogether. Exit Device Manager. Shut down Windows. Do a cold boot and let Window automatically re-detect the touchpad & re-install the driver. If it still doesn't work properly, it's probably a touchpad hardware not driver issue and will have to be serviced under warranty. Jack E/NJ

dadiguyonThis is a peer2peer users group like yourself. Have you tried to uninstall the touchpad driver altogether? Exit Device Manager. Shut down Windows. Do a cold boot and let Window automatically re-detect the touchpad & re-install the driver. If it still doesn't work properly, it's probably a touchpad hardware not driver issue. To confirm a hardware issue, you can try an ALT+F10 cold boot reset as shown in the video below or check your model number here for any driver or BIOS updates that may address this issue. https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers Jack E/NJ
