BSOF two days after upgrading RAM on my P05-640-EB11
Tinkerer
I purchased my Acer Predator Orion 5000 (P05-640-EB11) in December 2023. I bought two sticks of Corsair Vengence DDR5 16GB (5200MHz) to replace the origin RAM with. Two days after properly installing the new RAM, I was playing Call of Duty and my PC crashed and the screen went blue. I researched the error code displayed on the blue screen and it led me to believe that my RAM was most likely the issue. I was able to resolve the problem by putting back in the old RAM. I tried to reinstall the new RAM and had a friend of mine, who's far more knowledge in PC than myself, ensure that the settings in my BIOS were updated. It seems that what he could update in my BIOS was limited, unfortunately. He could not access the XMP profile. Although I haven't gotten a blue screen yet, my video game keeps crashing.
I did read some posts saying that the new sticks might be the issue, but before returning them and getting other ones, I want to ensure that the sticks I got are indeed not compatible, and that I get sticks that will work with my PC. Looking for any piece of advice that can help me resolve this issue and upgrade my RAM safely.
Many thanks in advance!

it seems everyone who gets any corair@5200Mhz has the samer issues.
when i was using the stock mb i used the dominator DDR5 from them instead@6000-7000Mhz.
and yeah, replace the MB asap they are locked and very limited so glad i replaced mine and it's very easy to do.
simple as taking the old one out and putting the new one in lol.

Thank you for your reply! So you are suggesting that I replace the motherboard? If so, what compatible model would you recommend?

any ATX MB will fit i put a Gigabyte Aorus Elite X wi-fi 7 in mine it was rated very high, and my GPU is Gigabyte so less software i need for controls of lights and fans.

Thank you!
I did come across this post, and I've been reading that the option to enable XMP is now available in our BIOS… Wondering if that would solve my issue with my vengeance sticks?

it may all you can do is try it.

Just did. I updated the firmware, enabled XMP. I opened Call of Duty and it crashed within 10 minutes.

XMP is only supported when all the memory is XMP enabled, and all use the same profile. Send the 5200 back and try something different, since several people have had issue with the Corsair.

Exactly what I did! I'll get some Crucial.

update on the crucial:
played modern warfare III and the game crashed again. I think that upgrading my mobo will be the only option.0 -
have you tried running it on 4400 with XMP off. that's a good test to see if it's the memory or the XMP mode or the game. a lot of ppl in forums have issues with that game crashing no matter what they are using i see.

It was disabled by default. I tried to enable XMP, but it seems like my PC disabled it to be able to boot. I’ll try to reenable it again.

Remember that in order to enable XMP overclocking all memory in the system has to be XMP memory, and very likely the original memory that shipped with it isn't.

I removed the original memory. However, I’m not sure if the Crucial sticks I got are XMP. Either way, it is supposed to be compatible with my PC. I just don’t understand what the issue is.
