Predator helios 300 (PH315-53) no option to disable Optane with RAID

I'm trying to install linux on my new laptop but I've hit a snag, since the sata mode is set to the proprietary optane with raid, I cannot see my ssd inside of any linux install or liveUSB. I've looked through the limited uefi settings and found no option to disable optane and revert back to AHCI. though the sata mode is listed under "Information" with no option to modify it. is there a way to boot into a more advanced bios? or some backwoods way to modify the sata mode. whatever tiny benefit I get from optane is not going to help me in linux so I'd rather just get rid of it to make my life easier.

chrissucks unfortuntely i dont think theres is any way at all anymore when microsoft forced all manufacturers to remove the legacy mode completely from the bios to not allow any users to downgrade whatsoever also locked it to the optane (most probably as intel was also involved in this lockdown) its not possible to disable/change all bios are locked very tight older bios would still be able to do it if not updated on some 2017 models only but you can try to setup the supervisor password to see if you can access some more greyed settings but usually that only gives u access to the secureboot and uefi etc but just give it a try good luck

yeah I already disabled secure boot. seems like such ***** that microsoft can just force companies to prevent use of certain settings, I know there is a way to flash a custom bios but that's why too much effort just to change one setting, I think its possible to install linux on fake raid but I'm scared it will mess with the windows installation, which I still need for some things.

for future people with this issues, press "control + S" in the main tab to enable changing the sata mode, why this is hidden I have no idea but screw whoever made it this way. preventing people from installing other os's than windows seems very illegal but that's the reality we exist in.

Ctrl+S did nothing. Even after rebooting in safe mode and removing the Raid driver.

    I'm using Predator Helios 300 PH315-53 bios 1.09.

You need to go to the bios, go to "main" tab, press '"control + s" and change sata mode to AHCI. If you need some help, let me know it. I have the same notebook and bios and i get it running windows 10 + ubuntu 20.04

I saw in this post that version 1.01 of the bios allowed to change. Should I downgrade the bios? On the website the smallest version I found was 1.03. And the biggest was 2.02

    It worked! :)
In vdd I had seen this solution before ... but I was doing it on the wrong screen. And the option takes about 3 to 5 seconds to appear (after ctrl + s).

    Thanks!
I'll leave the correct screen print here, to help the community

Thanks so much! This was super helpful. I would have never guessed control + S. Being able to disable these strange optimizations that sound like fossil fuel can be helpful for those of us looking to use some of the more conventional standards. This helped me install FreeBSD which wasn't really looking for optaney stuff.
