    >>>water went through the holes of the stand and it touched the bottom of the computer. I am not sure if any water when through the back case of the computer and if it has touched any parts of the computer.>>>

I guess it's possible some water mineral salts might cause some intermittent problems if the humidity is high. Is it possible for you to test if the problem disappears after the laptop sits in an air conditioned room for a few hours? Jack E/NJ

I thought it was water going though but it did not reach the bottom or inside of the computer and it was not salted water. I don't have air con here at home.
Could it be that I have pressed the power button for too long while the computer was on power supply? I might have pressed it too long without realizing that I was doing a battery reset, at that time when I thought the water had touched the bottom of the computer. Could that have deregulated the speed? I remembered this as I was doing a battery reset yesterday, after installation.

Just to clarify my point above. The computer was off and on power supply when I pressed the power button for a long time, like 15 seconds or longer. Could this have caused a deregulation of cpu speed?

Probably not. One other possibility is that the CMOS BIOS coin battery may need to be replaced. It's a non-rechargeable lithium coin battery usually size CR2032 that's on the mainboard.  Some users have recently reported weird issues have been solved by replacing this battery. Jack E/NJ

I have to check at the shop, but first I need to empty my disks. I can't open the back case as it still is under warranty.
The battery level had gone to 56% and I did a shut down of the computer. Pressed the power button for 15 seconds and when I started the speed went up to 1.78 ghz. I put the computer to sleep and re-woke it, then the speed went above 3.xx ghz. Now that the speed was up, I plugged the power supply and I shut down my computer. I started it back up again and this time the speed went back to 0.39 GHz. I put it back to sleep again and started up gain, but this time the speed did not change. I had to unplug my computer, shut it down, press the power button for 15 seconds, wait for a minute and started back up again and the speed went up to 1.78 GHz.
I believe that if I plug in my computer to the power supply and if it goes to sleep or becomes inactive for a while, or shut it down, it will set the speed to 0.39 ghz.

Yes, if it's still under warranty, you should take it back to the shop you got it from. This CPU is acting too erratically and unpredictably to mess with this any more. Jack E/NJ

I did the test and it seems OK. Anything I should look for in particular?

I see that CPU Temperature Monitor is Disabled. Is that normal?

  • I see nothing wrong. However, if you can exchange the notebook with the dealer, I also suggest switching.
