  • First check if there is any warranty seal on the screws and ask the technical support if you can open the notebook without losing the warranty! Check if the fingerprint cable is poorly connected:

As stated earlier, the only thing a factory reset will confirm is that it is or it is not a hardware issue. And despite hope that it's a driver issue because sometimes it works, I think it's more likely an intermittent hardware issue. Possibly a loose or otherwise intermittent connection of the scanner hardware to the mainboard.  Jack E/NJ

Fingerprint goes to sleep often after few hours of inactivity. Uninstalled driver, reinstalled driver, disabled and enabled the fingerprint. Don't know what else I can do? Acer Aspire 7 A715-72G-71GV. Thanks
So I read all of the comments, did you ever fix the issue? I have run into this issue since I recently purchased this laptop and I would like it to work. Thanks!

Open Device Manager. Click Biometric Devices. Click fingerprint scanner. Right click properties. Click power management tab. Uncheck box to let computer turn off device. Jack E/NJ

Open Control Panel. Search 'power". Click 'edit power plan'. Change 'put computer to sleep' to NEVER on battery & plugged in. Jack E/NJ

sleeper55>>>Why would I want to change my sleep settings on my laptop when that would drain the battery super fast and ruin the whole point of it being mobile? I'm sorry I just don't understand how that would benefit much without causing more issues for the finger scanner. >>>

The biggest battery drain is the screen and video adapter to keep the screen on, not the rest lof computer. So change 'put computer to sleep' to NEVER on battery & plugged in. Jack E/NJ
