Which country did you purchase it in? Are you using the Acer site for that country to try the registration? I don't think I've ever had Acer try to use my phone for registration here in the USA, but I haven't gotten a new system to register since last December, so they may have tightened up security since then.

Drivers for the system are typically provided by the Linux developers, since Acer doesn't ship any units with Linux installed. The design is old enough now that they should have camera drivers for it though. Have you checked with the Debian folks yet?
