My device (swift go) has 10a5-e340 which is a random sensor but common in acer laptops.

I have tried with u ubuntu fedora in both case it did not work my basic debugging told me that this one is not supported in libfprint kindly provide a patch asap so o can use it on my laptop with Linux thanks...

Windows does offer the flexibility that I need. In my workflow i have mac m2 pro and 1 Linux system so I can't use windows…

We need to know for sure which Swift Go model you have, there have been a bunch of them over the years. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SFGxx-xxx-xxxx.Usually it takes a year or so for the Linux developers to bake in drivers to the kernel for new laptop designs.

    SFG14-41.

Which is a ryzen7 acer swift go laptop.

Linux developers are mostly from brands like lenovo have there own to support there devices and upstream it.

For dell case is same if acer took a senior which is too rare and does not support libfprintd they means acer should provide the patch to libfprintd which is notthat hard at all.

Even acer does not have basic fwupd lvfs to update firmware and bios this is really bad.

Windows 11 is really a bad os with ui to stability just on cold boot it use 4.5 ram with fedora i full gnome ui i could open gimp libre office 4 videos play and one page normal website still i was 4.3gb i have tested..

My request is please provide support

    https://fprint.freedesktop.org/

Which is east one dev for 7days max he or she can provide finger print support in fprint.

And fwupd is the most efficient way of delivering firmware i really don't know why acer is not a part of it.

Just look at the other brands

OK, Acer used a few different sensors on those models, though the differences between them are sometimes only colors.

If you look on the support site, they have separate Windows drivers for the Elantec and Carewe sensors, so there are hardware differences between the two. Worse comes to worst you could always switch versions on your system. I'd expect the Elantec to have better driver support for odd OS versions like Linux. It looks like Carewe has a patent on the 'fingerprint sensor in a keycap' technology, but they seem to be a design house in Taipei, so may be fairly small.

Acer doesn't ship those models anywhere in the world with Linux installed, that I know of. If they shipped with a Linux flavor they would provide Linux drivers…

if that is the case provide a fix to reduce ram usage from 30% which is 5000mb on cold boot to a 1.5gb which i get from linux distros thanks such as fedora or ubuntu.

but if users want to use linux it is acers duty to provide adequate drivers i want a driver for my finger print reader for fprint linux.
