How can I add more memory to my Predator Helios 18 AI?
Some Predator 18 AI models require a thermal kit to upgrade the RAM. The kit is included in the retail packaging of your product. Contact Acer Support in your region to inquire about availability of parts in your region.
Thermal upgrade kit comes with:
- 1 x 5.5mm thermal pad
- 2 x 1.5mm thermal pads
- 2 x 0.75mm thermal pads
- 4 x thermal sheets
Preparation
- Power off your laptop completely.
- Disconnect the power cord and all peripherals (mouse, USB drives, etc.).
- Remove the back panel.
- Disconnect and remove the battery.
Installing RAM Modules
General Steps
- Remove the mylar tape covering the thermal pad area (if present).
- Install thermal pads as instructed for your specific RAM capacity upgrade.
- Insert the RAM modules into the slots at a 30° angle, then press down until they click into place.
Upgrading to 32GB or 48GB Memory
If installing 1 additional RAM module:
- Install a 5.5 mm thermal pad at the top position and remove the protective film.
- Insert the RAM module.
If installing 2 additional RAM modules:
- Place a 1.5 mm thermal pad on top of the bottom RAM module and remove the protective film.
- Insert the second RAM module.
If installing 3 additional RAM modules:
- Place 0.75 mm thermal pads on the top and bottom of the RAM slots (positions “2” and “3”).
- Insert two RAM modules into these slots.
- Place 1.5 mm thermal pads on top of the installed modules.
- Insert the remaining two RAM modules.
Upgrading to 16GB Memory
If installing 1 additional RAM module:
- Remove the protective film from the thermal sheet.
- Place the thermal sheet on the RAM module.
- Insert the RAM into the top slot.
If installing 2 additional RAM modules:
- Place thermal sheets on both modules.
- Insert one module into the top slot and the other above the RAM in the bottom slot.
If installing 3 additional RAM modules:
- Place thermal sheets on all three modules.
- Insert the RAM into all three slots.
- Reapply the mylar tape over the modules.
Reassembly
- Reapply the mylar tape over the modules.
- Reinstall and reconnect the battery.
- Reattach the back panel, snapping it into place.
- Secure it with screws.
Your RAM upgrade is now complete.
