How can I add more memory to my Predator Helios 18 AI?
You will need a thermal upgrade kit to upgrade the RAM in your Predator Helios 18 AI. The kit is included in the retail packaging of your product.
Thermal upgrade kit comes with:
- 1 x 5.5mm thermal pad
- 2 x 1.5mm thermal pads
- 2 x 0.75mm thermal pads
- 4 x thermal sheets
How to upgrade your RAM
- Power off laptop and disconnect any peripherals
- Remove back panel
- Disconnect and remove battery
- Remove the mylar tape covering the RAM modules
- Install the RAM
Installing 32GB/48GB Memory
If installing 1 additional RAM module:
- Install the 5.5mm thermal pad at the top and remove the protective film
- Insert the RAM module
If installing 2 additional RAM modules:
- Follow the steps for installing 1 additional RAM module
- Place the 1.5mm thermal pad on top of the bottom module and remove the protective film
- Insert the RAM module
If installing 3 additional RAM modules:
- Place the 0.75mm thermal pads on the top and bottom of the RAM slots (where the ‘2’ and ‘3’ are located)
- Insert 2 of the RAM modules into the slots
- Place the 1.5mm thermal pads on top of the RAM modules
- Insert the remaining 2 RAM modules into the slots
Installing 16GB Memory
If installing 1 additional RAM module:
- Remove the protective film from the thermal sheet
- With the additional RAM in hand, place the thermal sheet on the RAM module
- Insert the RAM into the top slot
If installing 2 additional RAM modules:
- Place the thermal sheets on both of the RAM modules
- Insert one of the RAM modules into the top slot and one above the RAM in the bottom slot
If installing 3 additional RAM modules:
- Place the thermal sheets on the 3 RAM modules
- Insert the RAM in the 3 slots
- Reapply the mylar tape over the RAM modules
- Reinstall and reconnect battery
- Reattach the back cover, snap it into place, and secure with screws
