Latest DosBox Turbo. But I can't help you with the Windows installation process because it's tricky and too long to explain.
-
Maybe by installing an emulator. I have managed to install Windows 98SE with DOSBOX Turbo and I can run Windows apps and games on my Iconia B1, but I couldn't enable the network connectivity.

It seems there is some progress in the Idea regarding firmware and OS upgrades... Check it out here and comment if you agree, to have this implemented ASAP.

Here is a topic where your idea is being discussed, make sure to post your opinion there if you agree.

Most tablets today come loaded with bloatware and uselessware from Google, to keep the price down. But every single app can be disabled, or completely uninstalled if using the free program Link2SD. I would suggest you to investigate more, and complain less, specially when you received the tablet as a gift... at least…

Not at this time, but here is a proposal to receive official upgrades from Acer that will only prosper if users agree and comment. Read that topic carefully and post a comment if you would like to receive updates to Android 4.4.

Go to Settings > About Tablet.

It doesn't matter how many microUSB cables you try... That's why everyone suggest checking your drivers and I suggested WMP reinstallation, I fixed the conectivity problem that way on many Windows XP systems for my Iconia B1. Blaming the USB cable itself is ancient mythology, nowadays all cables are perfectly usable.

Uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Player (latest possible version) and also install the Microsoft MTP porting kit driver.

I don't think that's possible with the native browser. Try to remove/hide the native browser and install Firefox Browser, probably some plugin will block any site you want.

If this is the official complaints topic, we could also mention the problem of the obsolete un non-upgradeable Android 4.1.2 on these tablets (like my Iconia B1) I just noticed in GSM Arena that Acer plans to release all their 2014 tablets with Android 4.2. This must be a joke.
-
Yes, because the built in speaker on this tablet is too small. Try connecting an external portable speakers set.
-
Try setting the brightness to middle, and disable everything you don't use such as GPS and Bluetooth. Also close any unused app, because the obsolete Android JellyBean on these tablets is not optimized for battery saving. The apps keep running and wasting battery in the background. This was fixed on Android 4.4, but forget…

All these tablets do support SIM card. The rest, of course, do not. Beware of buying a tablet with the obsolete Android JellyBean though, I suggest to look for the Android 4.4 Kit Kat logo always.
-
There are topics regarding that bug in the Chromium forums, but the developers look the other way. Just like Acer with the tablet upgrades.
-
Try with another eBook reader app like this or this. If it does not work either, try resetting the device to factory settings.
-
Yes it does. I never checked that little detail when buying my Iconia B1, though, which doesn't.

I agree wih DannyK. The "idea" of upgrading to Android 4.4 must be supported urgently. http://community.acer.com/t5/Acer-Ideas/Firmware-and-upgrades/idi-p/179477
-
Yes I also want to know when the upgrade will be available. Does anyone at Acer realize that an obsolete operating system is a real problem for the most demanding users? And that Nexus tablets got Android 4.4 months ago already?

This is a known bug on Chrome, and the only solution is to: * Navigate to chrome://flags/ * Enable Delegated Renderer (AKA Übercompositor) I avoid using Chrome because the Google developers simply don't bother in fixing bugs. This bug has been around more than 2 months and no one cares to fix it, and it does not apply to…
