That problem and thread isn't the same problem as mine. It doesn't apply. His symptoms are different.

XMPRAM sticks like the Corsair Vengence are capable of running in dual channel JEDEC mode in systems where the BIOS doesn't support XMP. When an XMP module is installed in a system that doesn't support XMP, it will typically default to the JEDEC standard speed and voltage. This is because the JEDEC standard is a fallback…

I have the 👉️A515-57-56UV👈️ with Core i5-1235u and this 32GB RAM stick (Corsair Vengence CMSX32GX4M1A3200C22 1x32GB SODIMM DDR4 3200MT/s) which has worked perfectly for over a year so far, and I'm pretty sure it's the same for models with the i5-12450H CPU as per Intel spec sheet it supports 64GB. Just sayin' , though most…

An aside, it seems wasteful and a shame that that second fan does nothing in my case with the i5-1235u. An esoteric question but is there any way to hook up that 2nd fan, say in parallel to the CPU fan, so that they both operate together?

my device again is: A515-57-56UV (P/N NX.K3KAA.002), Core i5-1235U, Insyde BIOS V1.04 02/17/2022 The BIOS upgrades are all cumulative and safe to perform from my v1.04 version?

Btw @StevenGen @JackE I have a BIOS version that is a bit old - BIOS V1.04 02/17/2022 Is it advisable to upgrade or since it's working fine (even with one 32GB RAM stick) … so don't do it? 1) The risk of bricking is low with BIOS upgrade or not? 2) Are there changes in the newest BIOS version that is worth it? | EDIT: I…

@StevenGen @JackE Well the fans arrived today, but the vendor made an error and only one of two fans was correct. I installed the correct one in the right-hand position closest to the CPU which it looks like is the correct location for my model (with Core i5-1235u w/integrated GPU). Now everything is working as expected. I…

@StevenGen @JackE do you guys know at what temperature the fan normally kicks in? Just curious to know as per my CPU benchmark/stress testing.
-
yes, as I said I live on the beach in Brazil so humid plus salty air. I had a Lenovo Ideapad before this and the same thing happened to the fans in it. Eventually after over 5 years the motherboard died (not surprising). Thanks for the feedback and parts numbers.

Very interesting… but what I observed was one fan would spin up but only for a moment the other fan would not. So I swapped them and then the same fan spun up more forcefully upon OS booting (Linux) and the other fan still had no movement at all. But even then performing a CPU benchmark test the fan would not spin even…

oh wait, @JackE what did you mean by "it may not be funcional for this model with only one GPU"… do you mean that by design only one of the two fans operate? I don't think so, but I want to make sure I understand what you mean. Also how can I determine If the thermal module has been physically damaged or not?
-
yeah I already ordered two new fans as this model has two and they are both very rusted and one non-functional. I will pay to have a tech clean the circuit board, repaste the CPU and install the new fans. I live in Brazil and on the beach which you can see the result in just two years. thanks for your time and opinion. ✊

@JackE here's some closeup pics of the CPU to fan area

This is wrong. The DC socket of the Aspire 5 A515-57 is soldered to the mainboard. See this replacement vid: https://youtu.be/VgPDHn3hP8U?t=260

OK I will do that, but I'm curious what exactly are you looking for?
-
Well I took the lid off the notebook and observed only 1 of the two fans was working. So I swapped their positions and again just the same one was working (in either position). However, even that one fan that did spin-up at times (like when entering the BIOS) it didn't spin very often and I couldn't hear it when I re-ran…

For another example, as I write this I have only my Vivaldi browser running with all background tabs hibernated and all CPU cores at around 5% or less and the temperature is about 60c degrees. That's pretty hot for almost nothing running on a Core i5-1235u isn't it? This CPU has a TDP rating of only 15 watts (typical) to…
