If your PC is taking a long time to start up, you can improve this by decreasing the number of programs that start up with Windows. You can also free up resources on your computer by disabling apps and services.
Use the following steps to disable programs from start up in Windows 8.
Press the Windows ( ) key + C , or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms.
Select Search .
Type Task Manager, click Apps , and then click Task Manager in the search results.
Select the Startup tab in the Task Manager window.
Tap or click an app, then click Disable . Repeat for all of the apps you want to disable.
Use the following steps to stop Services that start up in Windows 8.
Press the Windows ( ) key + C , or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms.
Select Search .
Type msconfig, click Apps , and then click msconfig in the search results.
Select Services .
Remove the check marks next to the services you want to disable.
Click Apply and OK to close the window when you have made your changes.
Click Restart to apply these changes.
