That looks like solder flux. it does not look like burnt marks. can you take a pic of what component is on the other side of motherboard, at that exact location.?

where is the burnt part on the m/b. ? can you encircle it. power surge will damage the adapter. not the motherboard.

Just because you are having issues with warranty from acer, does not mean acer does not honour its warranty. in majority of cases they do honour it.

use a nose plier to loosen the screw. thats what i did on my p4my.

Intel does not recommends this method, as it may lead to system instability. its in the readme file of the driver.

intel does not recomend to install the driver by this method. i.e. by *.inf method. it may lead to system instability, warns intel. do at your own risk , or wait till the mew driver is available on windows update. i doubt acer will release any new driver.

yes. it is safe. but both will run at the memory controller speed.

@ MaClane, The OP means the oem oem folder in c: drive, not the recovery partition on the drove. @Ken1943, leave it on the drive. it does not occupy much space.
