Ok so no one else gets mixed up..........I do not need help fixing my Acer Tablet...it is running a stock version of Windows 8.1 ( fresh install). My Portable DVD Drive will be dead soon ( it's old and has issues, some times it fails to read a DVD). So I need a way to take what is on the recovery DVD's, put it on an 8 GB…

The failures were after running set up from disk drive Windows would fail to load due to missing or corrupt files. As I stated in the first post, the DVD R/W USB Drive is the issue, as sometimes it will load all the files. When I run set up from a USB Thumb Drive, no issue. The reason why I wanted to know if I could boot…

bilsey I was never able to do a copy and paste to a Thumb drive, I tried a few years back. As far as I am aware it's a split image, some of the needed items on disk one and the others on disk 2. I am going to guess no, there is no way. So I just ended up loading a straight copy of 8.1. No worry, just means I don't have to…

Acer dropped support of the phone, so there is no official way to update the phone. It's a shame that they (Acer), only wish to sell junk now and do not place any regard to the consumer. Who knows this may even get clipped by a Mod as it speaks poorly of Acer Support...but we'll see. I would suggest you look to youtube or…

Well after trial and error after error... I've got the phone stable and working like a charm.

LOL after a few hours it reverts back to screen staying on ...balls

Hard Reset finished.... Initial set up complete...updating apps as we speak. Only one minor ( and I do mean minor bug that I see ), time zone issue during first set up....only -8:00 was available. However location is on and auto time set is active....when set up was finished the correct time is showing. I am Eastern -5:00…

About to attempt first hard reset to remove all Reg. Edits.........

Ok further to last post, on the next update pre 1709, the screen stayed on even after a press of the power button.....In software the screen is off, but you will see no clock and the screen will not react to touch until you press the power button again. Had to go into settings/Personalization/NavigationBar and turn off…

I think I found one of the keys to the issue of the screen staying blank after update..... After one update ( download, prep, install, and migrate), when the phone restarted the screen was black, no amount of power button presses would turn the screen on. I still had the OTC app running on PC, plugged the phone back in and…

Ok only 7 days to find the right combination that worked, but I am on the way up........if I could do a write up I would.....but to be honest at this point, the level of frustration to get here is unreal!!!! I haven't done something as hard as this since the old HTC HD2 days ( so fear and forgetting much played a part).…

You should give a bit more detail, step by step, as "plus some other files" is a bit of a mystery. I am sure others like myself would like to follow, however after trying to guess, my phone is still locked I think and I have yet to have the Reg edits hold. Most times Interop just closes when I start to dig into the Reg.…

The Store app updates like any app, it is not tied to the Creators Update, my Acer Jade Primo is A/U but has the newest Store.

You have a Windows 10 Phone and free Access to One Drive across all devices. However if there is an Acer Cloud is there a web access page that you can pull up in Edge????

Looks as if Windows RT is going to work ....Windows RT Lock Screen on Phone....
-
Yes I am aware of that, good info for any who need...... This was about Windows Phone Internals V2.3 like the Interop Tools but can Unlock the bootloader). It was just to keep users in the loop that you may soon be able to switch out the whole OS. Windows 10 on Arm and Windows RT are the early attempts ( alot of work is…

I realize my hand writing is not the best example to show how well an Active Stylus works on Windows Phone so I had 3 friends give me a sample. None have used a stylus before and I got the to write or print "The Quick Brown Fox" with no time to get used to the feeling....as you will see my sloppy hand writing skill leaves…

I have not looked into the Acer Stylus, nor do I know the specs of the Spin. I am guessing it has a touch screen and the reason for the Question in the first place....... A good rule to follow is research your Active Stylus with care, if it lists iOS or iPhone/iPad you can use that stylus. I use an Adonit Jot Script Fine…
