If you were not aware a new tool was released called Windows Phone Internals 2.3 that allows for an unlock of the bootloader. So far tests are showing very good results, and as the Acer Jade shares a chipset with the Microsoft Lumia 950, there is hope you will be able to swap out the whole OS. So far Windows RT and Windows 10 on Arm have blinked to life on an old Nokia Lumia 1520 ( Snapdragon 800 ).
This is still early days, but this has the potential to offer you a way to give you new life and enjoy your device more.
There are a few working on this, one way to keep updated is to watch on Twitter

Even without having the official Acer support, you can still upgrade to the latest build of Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update in this way:
    1. Use the Windows Insider app to upgrade from the build 10586.545 to 14393.67
    2. Exit from the Insider Program
    3. Use the Interop Tools app to download the latest cumulative update (build 14393.2007 - January 2018)

Yes I am aware of that, good info for any who need......

This was about Windows Phone Internals V2.3 like the Interop Tools but can Unlock the bootloader).

It was just to keep users in the loop that you may soon be able to switch out the whole OS.

Windows 10 on Arm and Windows RT are the early attempts ( alot of work is needed still ), but keep your eyes open as Android may also be attempted.

This has the potential to be a bigger hack then the old HTC HD2  Windows Mobile 6.5 -> Windows Phone 7 -> Android.
