It's probably easier and CHEAPER to just buy the computer with Windows 7 already installed than trying to downgrade (some manufacturer do offer a downgrade path). Many models with Windows 7 are identical to current models with the exception of having Windows 7 instead of Win 8....and actually probably are a little cheaper…

When you first got the computer you should have "created" the restore DVDs. If the computer won't boot at all now, maybe somebody with a "retail" Windows DVD can lend it to you to repair your computer's bootup.

While it (revovery image) is on a hidden partition, it's used for making a DVD (or USB drive for units with no DVD drive) for recovering windows. It's NOT meant for restoring directly from that partition. There's an application that comes on new computers for doing this.

Try booting it from your "restore" discs. If it starts to load from the restore disc, then Windows is just corrupted and will work after you try to either fix it by running "repair", or if that doesn't work, a full restore.
