Hold on… it says Windows Pro version? Did you laptop ship with Pro or Home (in all probability, it would Home edition). You have possibly installed the wrong version of Windows. Unless you purchased a genuine Pro key, your activation won't work. Remove windows and install the Home version shipped with your laptop.

Keeping constantly plugged does not cause battery bulge - I have all my laptops plugged in almost all the time for many years now. It seems like a bad battery in your case. Just get the battery replaced and you should be good. On a side note, keep it plugged in when using, and when not using turn off the power.

Windows has messing up dual boots since Windows 10. I would strongly suggest getting a good external SSD or connecting SSD via USB and booting up Linux into it. When you want Linux connect the SSD and boot from it leaving your system boot manager intact.
