  • ok thx. But i wanted to specifically remove & use on power for my need. So i take it as "Yes" .
  • Thanks for detailed reply. By the way i use Linux OS and i don't know how it fares relatively to Windows OS in general . I would watch for few more months and check this
  • I am trying to use my new ssd disk inbuilt encryption in a way that is simple to setup and use. That's all. Thanks for your reply here.
  • 1. I have already enabled "password on boot" and set supervisor password too. I use same supervisor password for normal boot up as well as to enter BIOS setup .I guess if one also sets user password then it can also be used to boot up. So this got cleared. Thanks 2. For a live session usb stick based bootup when hdd…
  • 1. aspire E5-575-50RM is my model and only I use Ubuntu linux So no windows . I get in above model only "password on boot" as an enabled/disabled setting when I enter bios with my set supervisor password. 2. If a live session user from USB device sees hd atleast in windows as uusay then I assume he or she can read contents…
  • Ok thanks much for reply. But 3 further queries : 1. I thought "user password" and password on boot as same because "password on boot" shows up in my laptop BIOS as only enable/disable option and that it picks up same user password 2. So if hd password is set and bios blocks access ,will a live session user from a usb will…
  • Assuming what U say is true then if a person boots from usb stick a live OS of some kind then with HDD password set will it prevent that user from reading/accessing HDD contents from inside that live session? Please correct me if I am wrong here as I haven't tested any of these. Just trying to know exact nature of this…
  • Thanks for taking time to reply . But i doubt that. What good of such a HDD password if what U say is true esp when we already have a specific "user/ password on boot" that gets prompted on boot sequence without entering one can't get past the boot stage itself to use the laptop? Imho something gets written to HDD firmware…
  • Any one can atleast tell me how the HDD password mechanism in BIOS of Acer works in the case of a normal HDD? I.e if I secure a normal HDD via this then does it tie up my HDD to Acer mobo in anyway to be of no use in future on any other laptop even if I remember HDD password?
  • Thanks for reply So far didn't see any other issue. I am new to Acer and having come from using dell for long which had bios self diagnostics etc I don't want to take any risk.also non removable battery . (not only that this laptop had a failed adaptor causing few other issues...) Would ignore for time being.
  • Thanks for reply. I am aware this is Acer user forum. How to do this recalibration of battery? I had already done few charge cycles like discharge till 5% level ,leave it & then charge with shutdown etc etc to let it calibrate full potential of battery long backas advised here exactly. Not sure if I need to do this again…
  • Is Acer listening? I got a faulty/failed adapter after just 5 months of usage. Now orange light keeps blinking every sec on/off which as per above reply shows battery abnormal. What is going on here? I seriously feel Acer has cheated all buyers in this e5-575 series
  • Battery was charged upto 40% and then shutdown cleanly. So there is no question of low or critical charge level here. What is abnormal battery situation?
  • I understand the purpose of GFCI to detect what you said leak. But excuse me for my ignorance still if any here that: Is it not the purpose of earthing(as it is called in my region) or ground wire to send away such stray or leaked current thereby prevent end user getting exposed to that current reaching ground through him…
  • Hmm.little hard to believe though. But still I wonder despite of no earthing issues with my wall outlet(verified with a qualifiedelectrician...)I thought current should have gone through ground wire before it reached laptop...didn't happen. Thanks anyway for reply
  • Thanks for your reply. But don't you think the laptop build should have sufficient insulation to protect end user from such critical faults in accessories say a connected charger/adapted. I have used dell laptops for last 10+ yrs never I have experienced shocks upto keyboard or near touch pad. I used to get mild pricks…
  • Acer need to improve its bios facilities and provide self diagnostic as well as disable battery charging i.e aeroplane mode via bios like other OEM Also I personally feel cheated with aspire e series laptop purchase I made as my battery too wears despite of calibration etc ,I use Ubuntu Linux and also other issues I am…
  • I request if possible those folks who reported the issue here to let me know how their respective service centres in countries solved the problem .this would help me in my case as well
  • Hi May I kindly know how respective Acer service centres resolved this shock in keyboard issue as I am curious bcos same issue I have in e5-575 model . Sorry for barging in
  • Thanks for reply. I am using original Acer laptop charger only as I don't have any other. It is kind of strange as nothing significant changed in my setup or usage here for last 5 months. I always work with laptop in power mode connected to wall outlet via good extension Board. Extension board looks good, wall ac outlet…
