  • Hi, Thanks for your input but it's packed up to be returned, the fact that there is no recovery partition and the device kept freezing makes me wonder if the device has been used by someone else and returned but, given that it's only a couple of days old, I wasn't prepared to spend any more time on it. Have advised my mate…
  • Further update, not even possible to do a clean reinstall as there is no recovery image on the drive, incredible for a brand new device !
  • Yes, interestingly the recovery box, when you go through the procedure, is greyed out which would indicate that there is no recovery partition. What shocked me though was that Acer would have the temerity to ask for payment given that their own software, does not work, incredible ! However, it's no problem I will wipe it…
  • Sadly Acer seem to have completely lost the plot and their after sales service continues to deteriorate.
  • Hi, there are WiFi boosters that you can download from the Play Store but, to be honest I've tried a couple with no luck. At home you can change the position of your router, the higher it is the better, also if you can make it central in the home so it covers more area, it's also possible to change the channel that the…
  • Hope it goes smoothly when you make the connection, as to your question yes, I do like my A1-810 but, my next tablet will be a Samsung Galaxy Tab for sure and I'm pretty certain that, after years of buying Acer laptops ( I have three at the moment ) the next laptop I buy will be Lenovo. Of late Acer are taking their…
  • You've not had a lot of luck with your device, fingers crossed for a good repair and some trouble free times ahead !
  • Glad that you are sorted and are now a happy bunny
  • Sorry not to be able to help more, your only option would be a hard reset and, if it does work which it may not, you would lose all the data on your device. Depending on the age of your device you could return to Acer for a warranty repair.
  • When you say reset, I guess you mean a soft reset by inserting a pin in to the reset hole ? You could also try an extra long press on the power button for 20/30 seconds, sometimes this brings an unruly tablet to heel. If all else fails you are only left with a hard reset which, if it works will wipe all your data and…
  • Let me try to help, you have not said what happens when you plug your tablet in to your computer via USB, when I connect my tablet, the A1-810, on the tablet I see *connected as a media device*, I have the option of connecting as a media device or camera, I choose media device, now, if you navigate to *my computer* on the…
  • You say that the tablet is fully charged, how can you be sure ? In some cases the charging plug/adapter to connect to the AC malfunctions and the battery in the device becomes totally discharged, giving the appearance if a dead device. Have you connected using USB to a laptop or PC to check ?
  • Strangely enough I didn't have to with my Win7 laptop but I know that some have had issues without out the download, the situation does not seem consistent, I too have the A1-810.
  • Have you attempted an extra long press on the power button, up to maybe 20 seconds ? In some instances android tablets can go in to a "stasis" and appear to be dead, in some cases the extra long press on the power button has done the trick.
  • After signing out have you tried settings, apps, Acer Cloud, clear data and clear cache ?
  • The repair requires the tablet to be opened and possibly the port needs to be re soldered and/or replaced, if the device is under warranty or the warranty has only recently expired I'd contact Acer for a repair. If it is out of warranty for some time you could have it repaired elsewhere.
  • If your warranty has only recently expired I would contact Acer again and ask them for a "good will" repair, they have done it in the past for others in your position, good luck.
  • Wouldn't it be so much easier if people who wanted help would give us more details about the problems they have in order that we could give more accurate advice ?
  • If you are referring to app storage you could move the apps to the internal SD card using a utility such as All in one Toolbox.
  • Some things you could try, have you attempted holding the power button in for a "long press", this sometimes can get the tablet to boot, have you tried a soft reset, gently inserting a paperclip or similar in to the reset hole ? If nothing else works you can attempt a hard (factory) reset, this will reset your device to…
