  • Hi All of the different hot keys to enter anything in POST mode (Acer-logo) can be tricky and the general tip is to hit them repeatedly, regardless of the pc-speaker beep, from the moment you hit the power switch until the Acer-logo disapears. F12 enters the boot menu, where you get the selection from where you want to…
  • HyperThreading needs to be disabled in BIOS. Strange that you dont have the option. try to update BIOS and make sure you are having an "advanced view" if there are options between simple and advanced.
  • hi As there aren't (at least to my understanding/knowledge) any actual acer employees supporting users here you should probably contact the support for your country in questions around your SNID. The only thing I know about it is that it should typically be 11 digits long.
  • Hi If you flip the machine over you should be able to identify a couple of screws (dont know how many, but typically between 1 and 4) with an ODD icon/mark (three discs on top of each other). Undo these screws and then open your optical drive while the pc is turned off and without battery by inserting a pin in the small…
  • Hi Absolutely a software issue then. Can you please give us a bit more detail around what you mean by "Changed Windows"?
  • Sad that the hdd crashed on you in such a bad timely matter. Backups are always tricky but very important to make and personally I fancy the built in recovery cd function, but of course you're double-unlucky with your backup image on an external hdd not working... Also, you are not paying for a new OS, the license is…
  • Hi I had this problem too, please see this post: http://superuser.com/questions/99449/ati-hdmi-audio-disappears-in-windows-7-when-a-tv-is-connected There's a solution to it there as well Hopes this helps!
  • Sounds like there is an issue with the image, have u tried the ALT+F10 or F12 during the Acer logo in startup? That should take you to the recovery console, from there you may be able to do a "full restore", thus replacing the failing image load. If that doesnt help I'd probably contact the store for a replacement.
  • hi this could have to do with hyperthreading or powerNow functions in bios (depending on your CPU) being set to the wrong values. I would recommend you to update your BIOS and see if that helps, if not, I would probably contact Acer support to get a technician to help you with the correct values in the BIOS for the CPU.
  • oh, by the way, you will need to reboot the PC of course before it to take effect (since u are modifying reg entries)
  • If I remember correctly there is a common issue with the print spooler service that sometimes freezes or sets it self to wrong values, which causes it to fail with different error messages. You should be able to reset that service entirely (deleting the saved values), either through modifying the regedit, or to use the…
  • Hi I think both your guesses are very much spot on, these two guesses should be one of the root causes. Unfortunately I have no good way to give you a hint of telling which is causing the issue, but it's more likely (as you say) that it's the adapter rather than the pin connector in the computer. The way you can tell that…
  • Hi To me it sounds like 2 different types of issues. First you have some kind of power/charge issue, that's probably down to the adapter not being standard, or not being good enough. Secondly you seem to have a software issue with your OS, that's probably caused by the computer shutting down during Windows update (since…
