I need to reinstall operating system but F12 doesn't work....

Ok, I left my computer for my wife in the Philippines and for some reason she had a problem and needed to reinstall the operating system.  She didn't wait for my help and took it to a hack shop there which deleted and formatted the hard drive, then installed a hacked version of windows 7 ultimate on the machine.  Half the programs she has now won't work as they require a verified windows version, which is fine.  I have no issues with that.

I ordered the cds from ACER and when I get them it says she has to hit F12 so she can enter what I assume is the bios screen and change her boot order for the cds.  Before I send the cd's to her I wanted her to make sure she could get in.  But when she hits F12 per the instructions, all she gets is a loud beeping noise.  I'm stuck on what to do here.

Is there some other way to force the computer to boot from the cd drive?  Is there another way to get into the bios system and change the boot order?

    Hi

All of the different hot keys to enter anything in POST mode (Acer-logo) can be tricky and the general tip is to hit them repeatedly, regardless of the pc-speaker beep, from the moment you hit the power switch until the Acer-logo disapears.

F12 enters the boot menu, where you get the selection from where you want to boot.

F2, F8 or F10 enters the BIOS, where you can navigate to boot options and select ODD before HDD.

Like said, the trick is to hit one of those repeatedly till you succeed.

    Good luck!
