One month after the warranty is over??

My Aspire HD crapped out on me ONE MONTH after the warranty ended and all data was unretreiveable!! Even the backup image I put on a external HD is not useable because the "Backup Now" program said it successfully imaged my drive, but after speaking to an NTI erep (the company that makes the application for Acer) that "backup" is not useable. So now I have had to install a new HD and now want the copy of Windows which I have already paid for!

Now there is no way to get a hold of Acer and they claim I have to purchase the OS again?? The support site does not offer any of the applications it came with for download, nor can I get a copy of Windows which I bought and paid for when I bought this laptop!

ACER support truly sucks. Their business policies and site options are horrific. I am very dissapointed in ACER.

Anyone??

You can purchase RCDs from their us-store.acer.com website if you did not create your set when you first got the unit. Here is a direct link to the RCD part of their site, which will require the serial number or SNID, https://store.acer.com/store?Action=DisplayDataValidationServicePage&Locale=en_US&SiteID=acerna

Sad that the hdd crashed on you in such a bad timely matter. Backups are always tricky but very important to make and personally I fancy the built in recovery cd function, but of course you're double-unlucky with your backup image on an external hdd not working...
Also, you are not paying for a new OS, the license is already embeded with the product, exactly the same setup as all other brands with the recovery media - I think that's probably a Microsoft controlled thing
