  • not a screen but i have done the ssd which is probably more difficult. The screen just lifts off so in theory it's just a simple operation if you can get the screen
  • I've replaced the ssd on an Acer w700 which is basically the same thing. there is a video on YouTube and is really easy to complete. I upgraded from a 64gb drive to a 256gb drive no issues for me and took about an hour as I was being very careful.
  • Just found this if it helps http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29959
  • Its not bricked just stuck.I had the same issues with recovery and just started from fresh. Best advise I could give is get yourself a windows 8.1 or win 10 iso and start again. You should get it to boot from an external dvd or a usb stick. The only thing I'm not sure about is how you retrieve your cd key or if you need to.
  • My Acer w700 is the best thing I every purchased. I'm currently playing final fantasy 13 on it and it handles it without a problem. Best advise I can give is reload from scratch windows 8.1. Get your license off before you do and just reload a full fresh install. After I did this on mine it works absolutely perfectly
  • Heres the fix.. Go to Control panel select Power option Set it to 'Balanced' select 'Change options' select 'Change advanced options' find 'Intel dynamic platform and thermal framework settings' click + open Low Power Settings disable both On Battery and Plugged in. MS link…
  • copied from a different post To solve the slow down issue, you need to go to Edit the Power Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings > Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Settings > Low Power Mode Setting and change from enable to Application Specific or Disable.
  • Its the power settings. You need to set max performance when on battery. As a test if you plug in the charger the issue should go away. there are quite a few threads on here addressing it
  • Make sure you are running the latest bios version. I think its currently 2.14. They had this issue a while ago but fixed it with bios updates
  • The throttling is definitely not fixed and never has been. The device has a 10w clamp bit which kicks in after 10-20 seconds when under a full load. Doesn't make to much of a difference for the i3 (US model) but the i5 with turbo boost is basically pointless and performs the same as the i3. The throttling should happen in…
  • just set screen off after 1 minute in the power setting, make sure sleep isn't set. leave the tablet for 1 minutes and just the screen will go off. i leave mine like this for ages to download etc I would provide a picture of the settings but i cant take a snapshot for some reason
  • http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php/listes-constructeurs/42-qualcomm-atheros/44-qualcomm-atheros-wireless try here version goes up tp 10.0.0.274
  • I wouldn't have come loose as its screwed down and everything inside is well secured especially the hard drive. Best thing to do is boot using recovery disks or a windows 8 disk and see if the HDD shows up as a device. Does the HDD show in BIOS? could be a BIOS thing. Otherwise if its out of warranty the only thing you can…
  • i have a US i3 model which i'm very happy with. Ive had none of the problems of others, it just worked from day one. i'm not happy with Acer for putting in a throttle and then making it basically impossible to remove it but it doesnt generally affect my day to day use of the device it only affects the odd game here and…
  • Not just me with the working camera then Thaks RandyV
  • low light is still pretty bad but there is a definite improvement here also specifically in day light. I posted this around the same day 8.1 was released so most people were posting on 8.1 issues. also there are quite a lot of people who have long forgotten this tablet had a camera because it was so rubbish.
  • so has anyone tried this yet on 8.1 with latest drivers. 1080p recording is fixed with full 30 fps. the video in normal light is actually very good.
  • OK even weirder the Microsoft camera app now records at 1080p 30fps. It must be from drivers I've updated. I have installed this weekend the drivers listed on the acer download 8.1 list except I installed wifi drivers from driver station separately and hd4000 drivers separately (Version 15.33.5.3316 WHQL (10.18.10.3316) )…
  • ok scratch that the acer crystal camera app tablet edition solves the problem. 1080p at 30 fps no issues on 8.1. Its a shame the Microsoft one doesn't work. How do I go about getting the Microsoft one working
  • i will raise an offical complaint for this and post my replies. Can someone confirm the tablet was advertised as having 1080p recording at 30 fps?
