  • Upgrading to a 256GB msata drive is a decent upgrade to the tablet so it could justify the expense somewhat. I have had my tablet for 6 months now and it's still working very nicely. I would be surprised if the drive is the issue, flash drives are very reliable. Before spending lots of money on another drive you could try…
  • Do you have the recovery disks ? I would suggest the best thing you can do is to buy a usb dvd drive, they are very low cost, and re-install your system fully using the recovery disks. Remember to back up all your personal data before you do the recovery as it will all be deleted. If you still have the freezing issue then…
  • I have found the fan noise also effects skype calls. The microphone picks up the fan noise so it sounds like its raining. I have had my W700 tablet now for 5 months and I'm still very happy with it. When I updated to Windows 8.1 I had quite a few driver issues, especially the intermittent bluetooth driver issue. It was…
  • Ethos wrote:but if u doing fres install directly 8.1 then the key from your tblet wont work ... That is true, I just used a key I found online to enable the re-install. When it was fully installed it rejected the key and asked for another. The key from your tablet will activate Windows 8.1
  • Your Windows 8.0 key does work just fine. You need a Windows 8.1 key to install only then to activate you use your bios key from your tablet. I agree that Windows 8.1 is much better than 8.0 and the purpose for my post was to show how you can refresh your system without having to download 8.1 again and again, along with…
  • Don't try to update, remove the bluetooth drivers and then update from Acers support site drivers page. This should fix the bluetooth issues if the hardware is ok. Re-installing is worth while if you feel you need a refresh but as Windows 8.1 is coming out in a week that it would be a good time to refresh your system. The…
  • I think an 8" screen is too small for Windows 8. One of the main reasons for buying a w700 tablet was the screen size. The Surface pro is just too small. I think an 8 " tablet running Windows phone software may be a better choice.
  • I bought the Logitech k810 bluetooth backlit keyboard and I highly recommend it for all your devices. With the ability to pair to 3 different devices ar the same time makes it the best choice if you have multiple tablets/computers you want to use it on. It's a bit pricy but Amazon have them on a good price now and again.…
  • The W500 series tablets have a docking keyboard that includes 2nd battery so I think you may have been mixing that model up with the W700 series tablets. I use my W700 tablet mostly docked and occasionally take it out and use it as a tablet. I have been very happy with the battery performance so far and it's a very capabal…
  • Iconia W5 is a Atom based Windows 8 tablet. The only limitation to the tablet to other windows 8 systems would be the processor and drive size. It should run all programs, excluding most games of course.
  • The dock has no battery in it, only expansion of 3 USB3 ports. The difference between the W700 and w700P models is that you have Windows 8 Pro instead of Windows 8 standard. As far as knowing the battery level of the Tablet that can be found on the desktop in the task bar. I use my tablet mostly docked and attach an…
  • As it turns out the USB3 dvd issue was my own doing. I was using an extention usb cable to connect into the cradle. After removing it and connecting the very short supplied Asus dvd burner usb cable it is working fine with other devices using the other usb3 ports in the cradle.
  • One thing I have noticed with my Asus dvd burner is that it has reading errors when plugged into the cradle. When plugged into the usb3 port of the tablet it works fine. I'm guessing it's a power issue with the usb3 ports of the cradle. In every other way I have found the cradle fine.
  • I don't own a usb3 thumb drive but do use a usb3 external 2.5" drive and that works perfectly. I get speeds around 75MB/s transfer which is faster than any other computer I have used it on. I was considering getting a usb3 thumb drive so I'm very interested how many other people are having this issue.
  • What I did with the driver reinstall is unzipped all the updates into one folder and updated all the drivers not installed or working. If your Bluetooth is working fine then no need to update.
  • I'm happy the bluetooth drivers are now working correctly. Now you know how to recover the system it won't be so hard next time. My install took around 15 minutes but the re-installation of the desktop apps and the million updates to Windows 8 took a while longer.
  • Did you manage to log into the BIOS setup and move your USB DVD as first boot device
  • From what i read about code 10 error message the only way to know for sure if its hardware or software related is to re-install your system. Hopefully it's software and bluetooth is working fine. Buying the usb dvd also gives you the benefit of being able to use dvd's as well with the tablet and importantly allowing an…
  • Without an external drive you cannot use the recovery disks. Windows 8 activation number is embeded in the bios. The tablet bios is the new type being UEFI that enables faster boot times. It is possible to install via usb stick but you need to download a particular copy of Windows 8 OEM (from a ***** site) and boot the…
  • I assume you are running Windows 8.0 and the error message is a recent problem. Have you considered reinstalling your system from the recovery disks?
